Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Junior Tax Preparer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and filing tax returns for individuals and businesses, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in accounting software, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients regarding their tax situations.
Responsibilities
- Review financial records, including accounts payable, payroll, and account reconciliations.
- Entering financial transactions into accounting software or ledgers, including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments.
- Organizing and maintaining financial documents and records to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Comparing and reconciling bank statements with the company’s financial records to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Tracking incoming and outgoing payments, processing invoices, and ensuring timely payments to vendors and suppliers.
- Assisting with tax filings, maintaining records necessary for tax compliance, and preparing necessary documentation for third parties
- Communication: Liaising with management, auditors, and financial institutions to provide necessary information and clarify financial matters.
- Utilizing accounting software and tools to streamline bookkeeping processes and improve efficiency.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and regulations to provide accurate advice to clients.
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary documentation and clarify any discrepancies.
- Assist clients in understanding their tax obligations and potential deductions or credits.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of all tax-related tasks.
Requirements
- Must speak fluent English.
- Must be willing to work 30 hrs. a week.
- Availability to work evenings (up to 8pm latest) and Saturdays.
- Knowledge of Canadian Tax System a strong asset.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks and Excel is preferred.
- Understanding of payroll processes and accounts payable functions.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple client files simultaneously.
- A degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.

Job Type: Seasonal
Contract length: 4 months
Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 30 per week
