Drivers must be responsible, trustworthy, and capable of loading and unloading roll-off bins in a safe and non-destructive manner, ensuring no damage to equipment, customer property, or surrounding areas. Drivers are required to maintain accurate records and documentation.
This is a fast-paced working environment that can be physically demanding and, at times, high stress. Employees are expected to adapt to changing priorities, tight timelines, and fluctuating workloads while maintaining a professional attitude and commitment to safety.
Drivers are expected to assist in maintaining the yard to a standard that is organized, clean, and free of debris. All tools and equipment must be returned to their designated storage locations after use.
The cleanliness of bins, trucks, equipment, and surrounding work areas is a high priority regardless of weather conditions or workload. Truck cabs must be kept clean and free of garbage and debris at the end of each workday.
Drivers must be clean, courteous, and professional when dealing with customers at all times. Even in challenging situations, employees are expected to maintain a positive attitude and represent Bin-It Ltd./ Cut-It Ltd. in a professional manner. Bin-It Ltd./ Cut-It Ltd. has built its reputation on exceptional customer service.
All staff must be familiar with and follow all company safety policies, procedures, and industry regulations. Employees are expected to ask questions whenever they are unsure of a task, procedure, or safety requirement.
Employees may be required to perform tree service, land clearing, and related work with our sister company, Cut-It Ltd., when operational needs require. This may include assisting with tree removal, brush clearing, cleanup, equipment operation, and other general labour duties.
All employees begin with a three-month probationary period. Any driver’s licence suspensions, CVOR infractions, or serious safety violations may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
HOURS OF WORK
Standard working hours are typically Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, employees must understand that work hours may vary depending on workload, customer demands, weather conditions, seasonal requirements, and operational needs. Longer workdays may be required during busy periods.
Saturday work is mandatory when required for tree service operations, bin deliveries, bin removals, emergency customer requests, or other business needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily tasks include, but are not limited to:
· Loading, delivering, and removing bins safely and efficiently, ensuring all loads are properly tarped and secured while avoiding damage to customer property.
· Washing bins and trucks and maintaining clean truck interiors free of debris and clutter.
· Maintaining equipment and reporting required repairs; refueling equipment; checking and replacing fluids as necessary; conducting daily inspections of trucks, trailers, bins, and equipment; and notifying management when service or repairs are required.
· Completing all required daily ELD logs, inspection reports, timesheets, and record books accurately.
· Providing friendly, courteous, and professional customer service at all times.
· Performing yard maintenance including grass cutting, weed trimming, painting bins, organizing materials, and general housekeeping duties.
· Assisting with tree service, land clearing, brush removal, and related duties for Cut-It Ltd. when required.
· Arriving to work on time, fit for duty, appropriately dressed, and ready to work. Employees must provide and wear CSA-approved green patch steel-toe work boots and any other required personal protective equipment.
· Reporting all accidents, incidents, near misses, property damage, or safety concerns immediately, regardless of severity.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Along with being professional, courteous, responsible, trustworthy, and safety-conscious, drivers should possess:
· A valid Class DZ Licence is mandatory however an AZ Driver’s Licence is an asset.
· A clean driver’s abstract.
· A minimum of three years of commercial driving experience.
· Proficiency in driving, maneuvering, backing, and parking trucks and trailers safely.
· Good physical fitness and the ability to regularly lift and carry 40 pounds or more.
· Good personal hygiene and a professional appearance.
· Strong customer service and communication skills.
· A strong work ethic and willingness to work as part of a team.
· Excellent time management and organizational skills.
· Self-motivation and the ability to identify and complete tasks without constant supervision.
· Flexibility to work varying hours, extended shifts, and Saturdays when required.
· The understanding that Bin-It Ltd./ Cut-It Ltd. operates within the service industry and that providing exceptional customer service may require work outside of a traditional Monday-to-Friday schedule. Every effort will be made to meet customer needs while maintaining safe and efficient operations.
