We are currently recruiting for a Communications Coordinator — someone energetic who will be responsible for organizing and creating informative and engaging student and school-specific social media communications. This role requires a self-motivated and creative doer who loves storytelling and who is a strong writer with an equally strong focus on student success. Working collaboratively, you’ll also get the opportunity to contribute to our institutional social media student-engagement strategy — including our full student communications program and activities such as the new student Facebook groups.
Assisting with earned media and working with student media will help you further elevate SAIT content. As a member of our team, there will be the opportunity to work on a variety of projects that contribute to SAIT’s strategic priorities and enhances and/or protects SAIT’s reputation and brand.

Job Description

Institutional social media - student information and engagement, including but not limited to:

proactive information - plan, source and create original content including: video, photos, gifs, graphics, writing, contests, live event coverage and hosting
reactive/customer service - timely respond to questions on SAIT social sites, as well as external sites
manage Facebook groups for new students
sharing appropriate content.
Individual School's social strategy for student information and engagement, including but not limited to:

creating and maintaining a content schedule
School events
School-specific information
user-generated engagement - sharing content
industry-inspired engagement
success stories - students/alumni

Other duties include:
Support to the overall student communications program – including but not limited to events, bulletins, emails and administration.
Support crisis communications as needed.
Champion and exercise collaboration within the department and across campus to facilitate and maximize effective content sharing, engagement and best practices.
Support and provide back up to entire team as required.
Abide by and support all Health and Safety responsibilities.

A diploma or degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English or a related field.
A minimum of three years of relevant experience.
An in-depth knowledge of social platforms and best practice.
A continuous improvement mindset and strong collaboration skills — critical to success in this role.
Creative, strategic thinker with sound judgment.
Excellent verbal, written communications and critical-thinking skills.
Demonstrated success in creating and executing communications plans and initiatives from start to finish.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
Strong interpersonal skills — able to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
Must be able to effectively manage competing priorities and work well under tight deadlines.
Motivated self-starter who takes initiative and performs well with minimal supervision.
A doer who gets excited by new ideas.
Comfort with ambiguity and ability to adapt to new and changing priorities.
Ability to think independently while maintaining a collaborative approach.
Team focused.
Discrete and ethical.
Proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft Office, InDesign, photography, basic video and editing and Photoshop would be considered an asset.
