Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Automotive Bookkeeper to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience in bookkeeping, specifically within the automotive industry, and will be responsible for managing financial records, tracking transactions, and ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations. This role is essential to maintaining the financial health of the business and supporting the smooth operation of day-to-day accounting tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain Financial Records: Accurately record and maintain all financial transactions, including sales, purchases, inventory, payroll, and other operational costs.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
- Reconcile Accounts: Regularly reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and financial accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Inventory Management: Work closely with the inventory team to ensure accurate tracking and valuation of automotive parts and supplies in the accounting system.
- Payroll Processing: Manage payroll for employees, ensuring accurate and timely payments, tax filings, and compliance with local and federal regulations.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Tax Compliance: Assist with preparing and filing tax returns, including sales tax, payroll tax, and any other required filings, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Bank and Credit Card Reconciliation: Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and match bank and credit card statements.
- General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are categorized and posted correctly.
- Assist in Audits: Provide documentation and support for internal or external audits as required.
- Vendor and Customer Relations: Manage relationships with vendors, service providers, and customers regarding payments, invoices, and account inquiries.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in bookkeeping, with at least one year in the automotive industry preferred.
- Education: High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Skills:
- Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Auto/Mate, Dealertrack, or similar industry-specific software).
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Familiarity with automotive industry financials, including sales, parts inventory, service, and repair revenue.
- Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to create and manage financial reports.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial team members.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify discrepancies and resolve accounting issues in a timely manner.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a dealership or auto repair shop environment.
- Knowledge of automotive service and repair billing and related financial processes.
- Certified Bookkeeper or CPA is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- This position typically requires regular office hours, with occasional overtime during busy periods (e.g., month-end closing, tax season).
- May require sitting for extended periods and working with financial software.
- Occasional interaction with clients and vendors may be required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 42.5 – 53 per week
