JOB SUMMARY:
As a member of the Toronto Rehab Bickle Centre (BC) Finance Team, the Senior Clerk will be front facing with BC’s clients on a daily basis. Hence, this position is instrumental in delivering excellent customer service to BC’s patients and family members and in supporting the management in maximizing the Continuing Complex Care (CCC) program’s service revenue.
The Senior Clerk is responsible for the following: performing cash management including timely deposit, disbursement of petty cash and patient trust account, and recording and reconciliation of cash/cheque transactions; generating revenue by identifying patients with co-payment abilities and by investigating insurance coverage, patient accommodation and allocation options; ensuring the provision of optimum customer service through the efficient delivery of Front Desk and Gift Shop duties, and through the timely collection, verification and correction of patient demographic data during the patient registration and admitting process to the CCC program; performing unit specific activities to ensure the effective operation of the unit; performing cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested; working in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contraventions of the Act, in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
Completion of a 2 year community college program or Diploma in Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited educational institution OR equivalent relevant experience
Minimum of two (2) years working in a healthcare environment
Proven skills in performing detailed numerical computations and in preparing detailed reports
Entrusted to handle or manage cash (e.g. deposits, petty cash) with zero audit findings
Strong commitment to excellence and attention to detail
Demonstrated flexibility in adapting to a wide variety of tasks and functions (patient registration, cashier function, gift shop merchandising)
Excellent customer service skills - demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service and satisfaction
Excellent computer skills, particularly Word, Excel, and the ability to learn new computer programs efficiently
Superior written/oral communication skills- ability to effectively convey factual information and detailed explanations
Ability to use initiative and good judgement in assessing and/or responding to difficult situations required.
Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines.
Exceptional time-management, organizational and self-planning skills with the ability to multi-task and work accurately under stressful environment
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with others in assisting with the delivery of services
Preferred Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of accounting practices, procedures, and generally accepted accounting principles
Willingness to work flexible hours and changing shift schedule.
