Position Summary
As a Community Support Worker, you will work closely with individuals to support their daily needs, personal goals, independence, and overall quality of life.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing compassionate, respectful, and person-centered support in individuals’ homes and in the community.
- Assisting with daily living activities such as appointments, banking, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and light housekeeping.
- Supporting individuals with community inclusion, social activities, recreation, and meaningful community connections.
- Encouraging independence, choice, dignity, and participation in everyday activities.
- Building trusting and professional relationships while maintaining appropriate personal and professional boundaries.
- Following individualized support plans and organizational policies and procedures.
- Maintaining accurate, timely, and detailed progress notes after each shift.
- Communicating relevant information and providing regular updates to the Regional Manager.
- Supporting a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Diploma in Community Support Work or equivalent education in a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience supporting individuals with diverse abilities and/or acquired brain injuries is an asset.
- A genuine interest in supporting people to achieve greater independence and quality of life.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to establish and maintain healthy personal and professional boundaries.
- Reliability, flexibility, patience, and a positive attitude.
- The ability to work independently while also being part of a supportive team.
- A valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract, required prior to starting.
- The ability to successfully complete a Criminal Record Check for working with vulnerable adults, required prior to starting.
- FoodSafe Level 1 certification is an asset.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification is an asset.
