About the role
We’re looking for an Inside Desk Consultant, Loss Prevention, to join our growing team!
Reporting to the Loss Prevention Manager, the Inside Desk Consultant carries out inspections over the phone, analyzes and researches underwritten and submitted risks taken from a variety of documents and internal and external resources.
This role can be based out of any of the offices listed: Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Mississauga, Ottawa or London.
Here are some of the ways you'll make a difference:
Write concise reports that communicate risk characteristics and an overview of key operations and exposures.
Identify hazards and conditions in relation to building maintenance, fire hazards, water damage risks, fire protection, security, liability hazards, etc. that should be improved to prevent or mitigate loss.
Determine improvement measures and strategies by making coherent risk reduction recommendations.
Champion the benefits of prevention recommendations and the use of appropriate property safety and protection measures.
Provide support and guidance to help policyholders follow up on recommendations. Assist customers by communicating the process and providing technical support in loss prevention.
Build and maintain professional working relationships with underwriters across national offices.
Minimum 3+ years experience in risk inspection
Post-secondary education in engineering, engineering technology, related sciences, or equivalent experience
Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development with a willingness to obtain the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Certified Risk Management (CRM) designations is preferred
Proficiency in property and liability claims prevention principles and techniques
Strong analysis, problem solving and decision-making capabilities
Excellent knowledge of insurance forms, coverage and underwriting guidelines
Proven ability to self-motivate and work independently with minimal supervision
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written
Client focused with an ability to build professional working relationships
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
