Position SummaryBoston Bar First Nation (BBFN) is seeking a compassionate, culturally safe, and community-focused Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support the delivery of holistic health services to BBFN members and community residents. The LPN provides direct nursing care, health promotion, chronic disease support, community outreach, and client advocacy while respecting Indigenous values, traditions, and approaches to wellness. The LPN works collaboratively with physicians, health care aide, Elders, families, and external healthcare providers to improve health outcomes and enhance access to care.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with youth involved in or at risk of involvement in the justice system.
- Provide one-on-one support, mentorship, and referrals to services such as counselling, education, employment, and cultural programming.
- Develop individualized plans with youth to support positive outcomes.
- Design and facilitate workshops, circles, and activities focusing on life skills, cultural identity, conflict resolution, and wellness.
- Organize recreational, cultural, and educational activities to build resilience and belonging.
- Collaborate with Elders and Knowledge Keepers to incorporate traditional teachings and restorative practices.
- Liaise with schools, probation officers, RCMP, courts, and social service agencies to coordinate support for youth.
- Represent BBFN in meetings, case conferences, and committees related to youth and justice.
- Advocate for youth needs and ensure culturally safe approaches are prioritized.
- Maintain accurate client files and program records.
- Track and report on program participation, outcomes, and budgets as required by funding agreements.
- Assist with grant applications and proposals to support program sustainability.
- Promote awareness of youth justice issues within the community.
- Provide opportunities for youth voices to be heard in community decision-making.
- Foster partnerships with families to support healthy youth development.
- Guide the healthcare aide on care plans.
Qualifications
- Current unrestricted practicing registration and good standing with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- Experience working with youth, preferably in justice, social services, or community programs.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge of justice system processes, youth risk factors, and restorative justice practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office/365 and case management systems.
- Class 5 Driver’s Licence and reliable transportation.
- Current or willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid and criminal record check with vulnerable sector clearance.
Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
