Overview
As a Junior Engineer or Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) with Rubellite Energy, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a fast-paced group of experts in our Reserves department with exposure to other departments within the company.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Evaluation Engineer to join our Calgary office. This entry-level role is ideal for an early-career Engineer or Engineer-in-Training looking to build a strong foundation in reserves evaluation and petroleum economics. The successful candidate will support the annual reserves process and internal asset evaluations, working with the MOSAIC reserves database and contributing to cross-functional projects across engineering, geoscience, and finance teams. This role will report to the Manager, Engineering Evaluation & EP New Ventures.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the data preparation and technical support for the annual and interim reserves evaluations in accordance with NI 51-101 and COGEH guidelines.
- Conduct decline curve analysis, volumetric assessments, and economic modeling.
- Input, update, and maintain reserves and production data within the MOSAIC database.
- Validate production, capital, and operating cost data in collaboration with field operations and accounting teams.
- Generate type curves, forecasts, and sensitivity analyses to support planning, budgeting, and A&D evaluations.
- Work with senior engineers and geoscientists to ensure technical and economic assumptions are aligned.
- Participate in internal and third-party reserves audits, providing supporting data and documentation as needed.
- Contribute to internal reporting, presentations, and technical memos related to reserves and resource evaluations.
- Use AI to improve and automate work flows and increase efficiency.
Qualifications and Professional Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) or Engineer with APEGA.
- 0–5 years of relevant oil and gas industry experience, preferably in reserves, reservoir, or production engineering.
- Exposure to MOSAIC or similar reserves/economic software (e.g., ValNav, ARIES) is a strong asset.
- Exposure to GeoScout or similar mapping and analytics platforms for the oil and gas industry
- Familiarity with Canadian regulatory frameworks, including NI 51-101 and COGEH guidelines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Proficient in Excel and data handling tools; knowledge of Power BI, or database systems is an asset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative team approach.
- High degree of integrity in handling confidential and sensitive information.
