The successful incumbent will be responsible for preparing design drawings and renderings, fixture plans, and construction drawings/details as well as coordinating landlord approval, permits, and construction completion documents.
Prepare preliminary store design layouts, fixture and merchandising plans, and construction details for internal review/approval.
Prepare final store design layouts, fixture and plans, construction drawings and site specific construction details for new stores, store relocations, and renovations to existing stores; while ensuring compliance with project timelines, landlord design criteria, building codes and project budget
Coordinate completion of Architectural, Mechanical/Electrical, and Structural drawings by third party engineers, ensuring the engineers are provided with all required information
Coordinate initial site visits with third party contractors for the purpose of gathering all required information to prepare drawings
Obtain landlord approval of the store drawings and negotiate, if necessary, any revisions to the store drawings in order to obtain landlord approval. Prepare sample boards and presentation boards to be used for approval purposes
Coordinate building permit applications with a third party to ensure permits are received in a timely manner
Organize project drawings in a digital format to be used for: Creation of Arch/Mech/Elec drawing package, Approvals, Permit, Tender, and Construction
Coordinate on-site conditions with Contractors and resolve any site discrepancies. Update drawings when required to ensure they represent as-builts for both active and archived projects
Illustrate store design and fixture concepts using Sketchup and Photoshop
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, The National Building Code, and AODA ; previous experience in a Design role will be considered an asset.
Working knowledge of Sketch-Up and Photoshop
Ability to work independently, multi-task, solve problems, and collaborate with a variety of colleagues
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management, presentation and multi-tasking skills are necessary.
Preferred Experience and Education:
AutoCAD - Produce drawings and details
Sketchup - Create 3D renderings of store interiors/exteriors
Correspondence, time/task management and scheduling.
2 or 3 years of college- university degree or equivalent
1 year plus of experience required in the same or a related type of job
