Job Duties
The Rope Access Technician will perform work at heights using rope access techniques and specialized safety equipment.
Main duties include:
- Access work areas at height using rope access systems in accordance with industry
- safety standards.
- Ascend, descend, and traverse ropes while suspended in a harness to perform building maintenance and cleaning work.
- Perform high-rise window cleaning and exterior building maintenance services.
- Conduct inspections of building exteriors and report maintenance issues.
- Perform pressure washing, dryer vent cleaning, and leak investigations.
- Assist with exterior sealant renewal and other building envelope maintenance tasks.
- Install and maintain rope systems, anchors, and rigging equipment.
- Communicate with supervisors and clients regarding work progress and site conditions.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
Employment Requirements
- Completion of secondary school is required.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience performing rope access work at heights in building
- maintenance, industrial, or construction environments.
- A valid Level 2 Rope Access Technician certification from Industrial Rope Access Trade
- Association (IRATA) or Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians (SPRAT) is
- required.
- Experience in rope rigging, rope systems setup, rescue procedures, and fall protection
- systems.
- Basic knowledge of workplace safety regulations and hazard assessment.
- Valid BC Driver’s License is an asset.
- Occupational Frist Aid – Basic (OFA Level 1).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
- Work at heights while suspended in harnesses.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physically demanding work requiring strength, stamina, and balance.
- Ability to handle equipment and tools used in rope access operations.
Employer Provided Equipment
- Rope access equipment and safety gear will be provided by the employer.
- Work uniforms will be provided.
