Details: The program is recruiting caring people/families to give people with developmental disabilities the opportunity to live in a family-like environment. Working from home, you will be promoting independence, quality of life, and assistance in the development of daily living skills for one or two people with disabilities. The type of supports offered are based on the persons capabilities and desires and are offered in areas such as life skills, service coordination, emotional and social support, financial and medical support, monitoring and supervision, and building positive relationships. The individual pays room and board to the provider and is a member of the household.

Contracted Payment: As a contracted caregiver you will be paid monthly. The contracted rate is individually determined based on government funding and the assessed needs of the person receiving services. Each contract receives up to a maximum 38 days of respite which allows the caregiver to have a break from providing support when needed.

In your role you will:

¨ Connect with and develop helping relationships with individuals with disabilities

¨ Act as a strong advocate for the individual and help to build natural supports and connections to the community

¨ Work with the individual and their support network to help achieve their goals

¨ Develop and implement all aspects of case management; including support plan development

¨ Completion of monthly reports as well as quarterly goal and support plan updates

¨ Support and participate in recreation and leisure activities

¨ Provide daily assistance as required with all health, hygiene and medical needs.

¨ Attend medical appointments as required

¨ Participate in monthly home visits with the program supervisor

¨ Participate in on-going skill development

¨ Ensure McMan’s policies are adhered to

¨ Ensure your home is meeting with Disability Services and CARF housing standards

¨ Attend required agency training on an ongoing basis

As one of the ideal candidates, you possess:

¨ Experience working with people with disabilities

¨ Security Clearance Check; including the Vulnerable Persons Sector Check (from within the last 6 months)

¨ Standard First Aid—Level C CPR + AED

¨ Strong verbal and written communication skills

¨ Computer/Word processing skills

¨ Ability to assist with personal care

¨ Ability to implement behavior management

¨ Desire to see individuals succeed

Rate of Pay: Contracted payment is based on government funding
