The Compliance Analyst is responsible for providing support, advice and analytical services related to all aspects of First West’s Enterprise-wide Risk Management framework including project management, policies/procedures, audits, risk assessments, training and relationship management.

This role can be based at any one of our three regional head offices (Duncan, Langley, Penticton).

Here’s what would be included as a part of your typical day:
Enterprise Risk Framework: Provides support in the development, implementation and maintenance of First West’s Enterprise-wide Risk Framework and related processes; conducts testing of FW’s business units’ policies and procedures on an ongoing basis to ensure that First West is compliant with all legislative and regulatory requirements.
Reviews and Risk Assessments: Supports the maintenance of a risk compliance framework including documentation and/or support function procedures and internal controls; develops methodologies and tools to assist in monitoring risk management compliance across the organization; conducts audits and/or risk assessments to compare potential risk against the compliance framework across First West and provides recommendations/directions on any deficiencies identified.
Regulatory Requirements: Monitors and communicates changes to legislative and/or regulatory requirements and associated impact on FW policies, procedures and processes; recommends actions required to mitigate risk to First West as a result of changes. Assists with research of legislation and regulation related to FW long-term strategic initiatives and identification of gaps in current practice where changes are required to align practices with strategic direction.
Projects: Participates in projects related to risk compliance initiatives. Provides expertise and support in development and implementation of an enterprise risk framework that supports FW’s current and future strategic initiatives. Monitors and ensures timeline checkpoints are met for compliance projects.
Reporting: Compiles data and prepares compliance reports within established timeframes; uses report data to assist business leaders to fully understand significant risk within their functional area and employees to understand their accountability to mitigate risk within their span of control.
Risk Awareness: Participates in providing risk expertise training and guidance to assigned business leaders and other employees, as required. Assists with conducting a gap assessment on risk awareness across the organization and in developing training and tools to increase awareness.

Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
Diploma (2 years) in related discipline required
Bachelor's Degree preferred
5 years progressive related experience
Experience working in the financial services industry
Ability to follow and conduct an audit program
Experience in all aspects of retail lending
Experience with business and commercial lending
Proficient with computer software applications e.g. MS Office
