Duties and Responsibilities:
The Bottle Shop Sales Associate supports the daily operations of the bottle shop to the highest standard consistently, and maintains Fresh City Farms practices, standards, policies and integrity. The Sales Associate delivers excellence in customer experience and lives by the FCF values.
Our Bottle Shop Sales Associate is eager to learn and should have a keen interest in Wine, Beer, and Spirits. Our Bottle Shop Sales Associate should bring their A game every day and support their team lead in all operational aspects of the business.
Our priority for our beverage programme is to find ecologically sustainable craft beers, ciders, wines and spirits from Canada. This exciting programme developed by Master Sommelier Jennifer Huether is unique and expertly curated.
Customer service is #1 - ensures every single customer is met with the same high standard/experience.
This includes greeting, cash service, complaints, drives sales by engaging customers, sharing information, sampling, displays and ensures to take all actions necessary to ensure financial success of the company.
Has a passion for local Wine, Beer and Spirits. Eager to learn and engage in product samping and expanding product knowledge.
Ensuring the store is well presented, organized and constantly monitored.
Ensuring the invoices are correct, the product quality is good, the product is recorded and displayed to specification.
Cleaning, organization and store maintenance.
Open availability and able to work weekends and/or opening and closing shifts
Point of Sale/ Cash Register experience preferred.
Strong work ethic, and motivation.
Able to work as part of a team and independently.
Able to handle a fast-paced schedule.
Able to stand through the entire shift.
Able to lift up to 40lbs repeatedly.
Related experience in food service or customer service.
Oversee and maintain the daily operations and deliverables as set out by the Bottle Shop Team Lead (e.g. inventory, ordering, item maintenance, quality and rotation, shrink, merchandising, invoicing, transferring scheduling, payroll).
Work closely with the Bottle Shop Team Leads to achieve sales goals and meet gross margin objectives, shrink targets and labour costs through payroll and expense management as assigned.
Partner with purchasing to maximize sales, reduce shrink and improve customer satisfaction.
Following process and procedures purchasing and receiving in Nav as per SOPs and in a timely fashion.
Receive, verify and accept goods from suppliers.
Ensure that all closing and opening procedures are completed in a timely manner and to standard.
Manage the process of escalation, damage control and customer relations, that relate to maintenance at store level.
Record and report instances of theft, confrontations and other issues that arise in the bottle shop.
Have a strong store presence through regular communication with all levels of team members throughout a shift, and make every reasonable effort to take phone calls and reply to work related emails, in a timely and professional fashion.
May be requested to undertake other related duties due to business or Store Manager needs.
Ensure we remain 100% compliant with the AGCO and follow Smart Serve protocols at all times.
Provide feedback and observations to the Head Sommelier and Director Of Alcohol Curation in order to make informed decisions in terms of product selection and experience.
Ensures a strong customer service-centered culture is maintained with team members - this includes friendly and warm greetings to each customer, thanking them for visiting and making a concerted effort to get to know our customers.
Act as Brand Ambassador for FCF, HB, & Mabel's. Promote stores, brands, products and create awareness with local residents and businesses through various initiatives such as in-house samplings, regularly updating the sidewalk sign with relevant messages, etc.
Work with the Bottle Shop Team Lead to ensure merchandising is maintained, the store is kept clean and that all product displays and pantry items are properly stocked and maintained, and planograms are followed. Follows through and maintains visual merchandising and marketing efforts.
Handles any special customer requests or concerns and escalates or redirects appropriately.
Regularly communicates with the Store Manager or other departments, when appropriate, regarding customer input/feedback in order to ensure customer satisfaction and improvements are achieved.
Works directly with the Head Sommelier and Director Of Alcohol Curation to improve the offering, marketing and staff knowledge surrounding the alcohol offerings at the bottle shop.
Health and Safety:
Assist in implementing the health and safety program and act on recommendations made by the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
Uphold H&S compliance and Manager responsibilities; reporting incidents, injuries etc., completing appropriate reports, forms and paperwork.
Escalate concerns from or about staff or customer safety in a clear and timely fashion to The Store Manager, or in their absence any urgent matters to the GM, CRO and HR.
Ensures all staff follow Health and Safety procedures in the workplace and protective gear is being worn by all staff.
Manages customer escalations and theft issues following store policies and with the interest of staff safety as the first priority.
Skills and Qualifications:
Great communication and interpersonal skills.
Amazing customer service abilities and presence.
Experience managing/maintaining health and safety standards.
Computer and POS competencies.
Great at organizing and prioritizing efforts.
Formal culinary, beverage management training.
Product development experience.
Nav or LSRetail experience.
De-Escalation and loss prevention familiarity.
First aid training.
Smart Serve Certification.
Physically capable of being on feet for full shifts on and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Store Specific Requirements:
Specifically responsible for the bottle shop section of the store.
