About Us
Edson Early Learning and Childcare is a licensed child care centre dedicated to providing a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for children aged 12 months to 12 years. We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Cleaner to join our team and help maintain a healthy environment for children, families, and staff.
Position Summary
The Cleaner is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and safety of the daycare facility in accordance with daycare policies, public health requirements, and workplace safety standards. The successful candidate will take pride in creating a clean and welcoming environment and will work independently to ensure all cleaning duties are completed thoroughly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize childcare rooms, washrooms, common areas, offices, and staff spaces.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors throughout the facility.
- Clean and disinfect toys, furniture, and high-touch surfaces.
- Empty garbage and recycling containers and replace liners.
- Clean windows, doors, and other surfaces as required.
- Replenish cleaning supplies, paper products, and sanitation materials.
- Follow established cleaning schedules and procedures.
- Safely use and store cleaning products and equipment.
- Report maintenance concerns, hazards, or safety issues to management.
- Assist with deep cleaning projects and seasonal cleaning tasks.
- Follow all workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous cleaning or janitorial experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform physical tasks including bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a childcare environment.
Requirements
- Valid Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (or willingness to obtain one).
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Knowledge of safe cleaning and sanitation practices.
