Position Summary:
GMS Mine Repair & Maintenance is currently recruiting on behalf of our respected mining client for an experienced Health & Safety Coordinator. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established mining operation in Northeastern British Columbia, where you will play a key role in supporting a strong safety culture and ensuring health and safety programs are effectively implemented across site operations.
The successful candidate will support health and safety initiatives, coordinate training and emergency response activities, maintain safety documentation and reporting systems, and work collaboratively with employees, supervisors, and leadership to promote continuous improvement in health and safety performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and attend health and safety-related training sessions and meetings.
- Develop monthly crew safety meeting topics and agendas.
- Review monthly crew safety meeting minutes and ensure identified concerns are appropriately addressed.
- Coordinate monthly Emergency Response Team rescue training.
- Participate in health and safety inspections, audits, and site Health and Safety Committee activities.
- Enter and maintain accurate information within health and safety data systems.
- Analyze safety data and prepare and distribute month-end health and safety reports.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for health and safety programs, inspections, training, and incident reports.
- Assist with the development, maintenance, and implementation of safety standards and supporting documentation.
- Assist with the development and implementation of new safety policies and procedures as required.
- Support site leadership and employees in maintaining a strong safety culture.
- Participate in incident reporting, documentation, and follow-up activities as required.
- Complete additional health and safety duties as required.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Additional certification or education in Occupational Health and Safety is considered an asset.
- Relevant certifications or diplomas in Occupational Health and Safety preferred.
- Minimum two years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably within a mining, industrial, or similarly regulated environment.
- Familiarity with health and safety data systems and reporting tools.
- Experience working with safety documentation, inspections, training records, and incident reporting is considered an asset.
Compensation & Benefits: $100,000 - $120,000/year along with a variety of incentive opportunities, including monthly efficiency bonuses based on safety and production targets and quarterly retention bonuses.

Schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off with 12-hour shifts (days).
