Rosewood Hotel Georgia is looking for an Accountant.
As an Accountant, you will be responsible for processing all invoices and authorized check payments for assigned entities in accordance with hotel standards. Responsible for maintaining ledgers and records of hotel receivables and payables and posting all transactions incurred in accordance with hotel standards. Reconciles daily statements and month-end balancing of receivables and payables.
Ensure all financial areas of the hotel, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable are all administered appropriately and effectively.
Maintain receivables to process, track, and record payments in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner.
Maintain file on all authorized purchase orders Review open purchase orders and resolve outstanding with Purchasing.
Review vendor statements and reconcile any disputes. Resolve any invoices, which are beyond the acceptable terms for payment.
Support the company in optimizing our financial transactions and systems by performing reconciliation of payments and customer accounts.
Assist in streamlining and improving the accounts receivable and accounts payable process identifying areas of performance improvement.
Maintain accounts receivable records to ensure aging is up to date, credits and collections are applied, uncollectible amounts are accounted for, and miscellaneous differences are cleared.
Perform daily cash management duties, including the recording of bank deposits, updating and distribution of cash receipt logs, and posting of cash to the accounts receivable ledgers.
Complete month-end Accounting procedures as specified, including monthly reports.
Resolve discrepancies with Front Office Manager and/or Credit Manager.
Review cash received sheet and reconcile payments with the billing statements. Research discrepancies and resolve with Supervisor.
Process advance deposit refunds after confirming cancellation in system; generate a check request and post debit in system; apply debit to credit, print copy of folio and attach to all back-up. Distribute according to departmental procedures.
Research chargebacks and process according to departmental procedures by the end of the day received.
Research credit card company inquiries and respond with back-up information within 48 hours of receipt. Keep copies of responses and file.
Review all returned checks and process according to procedures.
Process AP/AR/special promotion/duty meal/rebates, record on respective spreadsheets, maintain weekly logs and files on each.
Prepare bi-monthly rebate spreadsheets following department procedures and submit to Night Audit for posting.
Audit all postings to ensure that back-up matches system. Resolve discrepancies.
Conduct credit checks on direct billing requests as directed by Credit Manager.
Complete month-end closing procedures as specified, including monthly reports.
Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
Other duties, responsibilities and projects as assigned.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
Minimum five years hotel experience with two years’ experience in a similar role. Luxury or ultra-luxury experience is preferred.
High school diploma; some college preferred.
Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest’s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
Ability to input and access information into the Accounting system; ability to maintain concentration and think clearly; ability to prioritize, organize and follow-up; ability to promote positive relations with vendors and staff alike; ability to provide clear and pleasant telephone communication; ability to maintain confidentiality of pertinent hotel data; ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision; ability to remain stationary at assigned post for extended periods of time; ability to focus on details and resolve numerical problems; ability to work cohesively with other departments and co-workers as part of a team.
Must be able to exert physical effort in transporting 15 pounds, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary at times throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding.
Must be able observant and quick to respond to various situations while also multitasking and handling stressful situations.
Must have excellent communication skills and be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
