The Director (Program Manager) acts as the face and first point of contact at Blüm Childcare Academy, a brand new, modern and innovative Early Learning Center in Calgary's innercity community of Tuxedo Park. They will provide a safe, flexible, and stimulating environment that facilitates early learning and teaches appropriate behaviours and skills through modelling, redirecting, mediating, observing, questioning, demonstrating, and reinforcing.
The Program Manager encourages and guides the Montessori philosophy to be weaved through every activity and action in the Academy especially as it specifically relates to the care and supervision of students. This senior-level position focuses primarily on curriculum programming, with an Operations Manager, various support roles, and a Senior Leadership Team handling administrative, facility, and operational tasks. As a vital member of Leadership, various inputs will be required and duties will transform as the program grows.
Core Qualifications:
- Level 3 Early Childhood Educator certification from the Government of Alberta
- 2 Years of Relevant Management experience, specifically as an Assistant Director/ Program Supervisor
- Valid and up to date First Aid + CPR training
- Valid and up to date AHS Food handling certificate
- Police clearance with vulnerable sector check (less than 8 weeks old)
- Montessori certification will be an asset but not required
- Bachelors Degree will be an asset and valuable
Position Duties & Responsibilities to include:
- Ensures Licensing Compliance, participates in licensing inspections, ensures that the program adheres to the Licensing requirements and Program Plan at all times
- Designs and oversees in daily / monthly / yearly curriculum planning
- Guides the development and implementation of planned learning experiences including visual arts, outdoor times, Montessori, movement and music, sensory play, etc
- Guides Educators in continuously implementing Montessori appropriate actions and activities throughout the daily routines
- Ensures appropriate language, guidance, and atmosphere is used and present in each classroom
- Performs weekly classroom check-ins, observations and evaluations
- Oversees student's Developmental Updates and semi-annual Learning Journey
Business Operations:
- Oversees daily routine of the entire facility
- Performs Family Onboarding & Discovery Sessions
- Assists in supervision of kitchen and Chef
Team Management:
- Effectively manages the many facets of a dynamic team as it relates to schedules, shifts, student/classroom needs and ratio changes
- Tracks and promotes professional development + oversees performance reviews
- Reviews team absences and lateness
- Uplifts and encourages Team daily to excel in their positions
- Promote a harmonious environment among team
Health & Safety:
- Ensure Fire (City) and Health (Provincial) safety regulations throughout the entire program and premise
- Guides and signs off on Incident Reporting
- Isolates ill students and makes arrangement to notify parents and supervision of child, overseas all medication management and proper documentation
