Cresena Trading is part of a Dubai-based international food trading group with a strong reputation in global sourcing, private label manufacturing, and food distribution. Following our success in international markets, we are now expanding into North America and building our Canadian operations.
We specialise in cooking oils, cooking fats, ghee, and other food products, supplying wholesalers, distributors, retailers, food manufacturers, and foodservice businesses. Our goal is to become one of Canada's leading suppliers of edible oils and food ingredients.
As part of our expansion, we are looking for an ambitious and commercially driven Business Development & Market Intelligence Executive to help identify new opportunities, build relationships with buyers, and accelerate our growth across Canada.
The Role
This is not a traditional sales role.
We're looking for someone who enjoys researching markets, understanding competitors, identifying who buys from them, and creating new business opportunities.
Your role will be to identify wholesalers, distributors, food manufacturers, retailers, and foodservice operators that purchase cooking oils and cooking fats, arrange meetings with key decision-makers, and help expand Cresena's customer base across Canada.
This position is primarily based from our Toronto office, with the flexibility to work remotely when appropriate. Occasional travel within Canada to visit customers, attend meetings, and participate in trade shows may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Research the Canadian cooking oil and cooking fats market.
- Analyse competitors, their brands, pricing, customers, and distribution networks.
- Identify wholesalers, distributors, retailers, food manufacturers, foodservice operators, and importers purchasing edible oils and fats.
- Build databases of qualified purchasing managers, category managers, procurement professionals, and business owners.
- Contact prospective customers through telephone, email, LinkedIn, and other professional channels.
- Book qualified meetings for senior management.
- Maintain an accurate CRM pipeline and follow-up schedule.
- Monitor competitor activity, pricing, and market trends.
- Prepare weekly reports highlighting opportunities, competitor insights, and sales activity.
- Represent Cresena professionally at industry events and trade shows when required.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in Business Development, B2B Sales, Market Intelligence, Lead Generation, or Account Development.
- Experience within edible oils, cooking fats, food manufacturing, food distribution, wholesale food, grocery, or the FMCG/CPG industry is highly desirable.
- Strong commercial awareness and research skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Comfortable speaking with senior decision-makers.
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and results-driven.
- Experience using CRM software, Microsoft Office, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, or similar prospecting tools.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
