Position Summary
Reporting to the VP of Finance, this accounting role is integral to our organization’s operations and works closely with teams across all departments. Responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities and primary Korean language liaison with Korean investors. This individual will also play a key role in developing processes, policies, and accounting systems to support business growth. This role will expand as the person becomes proficient.
Duties and Responsibilities
Accounting
- Manage day-to-day accounting, including payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Oversee general cash management.
- Perform month-end processes and prepare financial reports for management and the board.
- Develop, implement, and document accounting policies and procedures.
- Coordinate year-end audit preparation, including updating financial statement notes and preparing audited financial statements.
- Research and implement technology to improve and automate processes.
Reporting
- Track, monitor, analyze, and report on key performance indicators.
- Maintain procurement, contract, and other business records.
- Manage and maintain sales data.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly business review presentations, reports, and KPIs.
- Draft position papers and collaborate with auditors on IFRS and reporting changes.
- Assist with preparation of ICFR in preparation for possible public offering
Shareholder Liaison
- Serve as primary financial liaison to the Korean parent company
- Prepare Korean monthly reporting
- Partner with the parent company’s finance and strategy teams on monthly, quarterly, and annual planning cycles
- Build strong relationships with the parent company’s finance team and establish clear communication protocols
- Bridge Korean and Canadian business practices and stakeholder expectations
Direct Reports
- Supervises one remote part time resource
Physical Requirements and work environment
- Primarily office-based; communication may be required via telephone, video calls, or in-person meeting.
- Typical schedule is Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 6:00pm, with flexibility to meet deadlines and to accommodate Korean time zone for meetings (early evening).
- Extended periods of sitting, typing, and completing repetitive computer tasks.
Qualifications
- CPA designation or relevant experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in Korean and English. Comfortable discussing technical accounting issues in both languages.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs including advanced Excel skills.
- A strong understanding of ERP and apps used to optimize processes.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work fast and accurately.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge.
- A strong sense of problem-solving proven experience in developing efficient solutions.
- A result and success-oriented mentality, conveying a sense of urgency and driving issues to closure.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to develop lasting relationships with people.
- Comfortable with handling multiple demands, shifting priorities, working with ambiguous situations, and adapting to rapid change.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
Pay: $100,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
