A Day in the Life:
Expanding Manufacturing Capacities and Capabilities:
- Equipment and Machinery Studies: Conduct studies of new equipment and machinery; provide recommendations for the most efficient options.
- Plant Layout Design: Plan and design plant layouts and facilities to improve operational efficiency.
- Workstation and Equipment Layout: Assist with the layout and implementation of shop workstations and equipment to optimize workflow.
- Cost Analysis: Analyze costs and buyback periods for new purchases, aiming to maximize return on investment.
- Equipment Installation: Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery.
- Liaison and manage 3rd party consultants and contractors for PO’s, permits and professional services.
Evaluation and Enhancement of Manufacturing Processes:
- Product and Equipment Expertise: Review and provide expert-level understanding of all products and equipment in our manufacturing facilities.
- Productivity and Efficiency Analysis: Evaluate productivity and efficiencies at the plant and department levels, identifying areas for improvement.
- Production Analysis: Conduct production analysis including time studies and lean manufacturing problem solving and provide recommendations.
- Time Studies and Work Simplification: Design, develop, and conduct time studies and work simplification programs.
- Automation and AI Research: Conduct research and implement practices for automation and AI in our manufacturing facilities to enhance operations.
- Production Optimization: Recommend techniques, tooling, and training to optimize production processes.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Manage, train and mentor junior manufacturing engineer(s).
- Innovative Solutions Research: Research and develop innovative solutions to production problems; prepare presentations to communicate research findings.
- Technical Support and Training: Provide technical support and training to technicians and operators as required.
- Interdepartmental Liaison: Act as a liaison with R&D, Technical Services, design drafting, engineering, maintenance, purchasing, and production teams.
- Integrated Systems Development: Develop flexible or integrated manufacturing systems and procedures.
- Reliability and Performance Studies: Conduct studies of the reliability and performance of plant facilities and production or administrative systems.
- Facility Evaluation: Evaluate and assess industrial facilities to ensure optimal operations.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of production machinery, equipment, and systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in automation and AI implementation.
- Strong project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel to other facilities and sites as required.
