Edmonton Islamic Academy is seeking a qualified and passionate Elementary Online Learning Teacher to join our growing team. We are looking for an outstanding educator who is committed to creating engaging virtual learning experiences while supporting students enrolled in our Bloom Home Education Program.
The ideal candidate is passionate about working with students in an online environment and can design flexible, student-centered learning experiences that support academic success and personal growth. This role requires an educator who is highly organized, adaptable, and technology-savvy, with the ability to build strong relationships with students and parents while teaching and supporting learners remotely.
This is an on-site position based at Edmonton Islamic Academy, with instruction and communication delivered primarily through online platforms. This position has an FTE of 0.7.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach and support home education students through live online instruction, virtual meetings, and digital learning platforms.
- Create engaging, flexible, and individualized learning experiences that support student achievement.
- Plan and deliver instruction aligned with Alberta curriculum outcomes.
- Support students with varying learning needs through differentiated instruction and personalized learning plans.
- Monitor student progress, provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate academic records.
- Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding academic progress, expectations, and support strategies.
- Develop course outlines, learning objectives, and instructional materials aligned with curriculum guidelines.
- Utilize a variety of digital tools and online resources to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, administration, and support staff to ensure student success.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school initiatives.
- Build positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the broader school community.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and contribute positively to a faith-based learning environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or higher from an accredited institution (or equivalent).
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or Interim Professional Certificate.
- Strong knowledge of Alberta curriculum and online instructional practices.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience teaching in an online, blended, or technology-rich environment is considered an asset.
- Advanced proficiency with Google Workspace
- Strong technology skills and the ability to troubleshoot common technical issues independently.
- Experience creating and managing digital learning resources and online assessments.
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs in a virtual environment.
- Strong classroom management skills in both virtual and in-person settings.
- Commitment to student success, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Experience in a faith-based or culturally diverse educational setting is considered an asset.
Work Environment

Hybrid work model consisting of four (4) days on-site at Edmonton Islamic Academy and one (1) day remote per week.
- Daily interaction with students occurs primarily through virtual platforms and online learning tools.
- Requires flexibility to support students and families through a combination of scheduled online instruction, one-on-one meetings, parent communication, and ongoing digital support.
- Frequent use of educational technology, Google Workspace, and digital collaboration tools is essential.
- The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently in a remote setting while maintaining strong communication and collaboration with colleagues and administration.
