About the role
The IT Senior Architect (Solutions Architect) is a senior individual contributor responsible for leading the design and execution of secure, scalable, reliable, and business-aligned technology solutions across internal builds and vendor platforms.
This role combines strong engineering experience with solution architecture leadership. The person will define solution designs, provide hands-on implementation support, guide implementation teams, evaluate build-versus-buy options, and ensure that solutions meet expectations for performance, security, reliability, observability, and long-term maintainability.
The role is not intended to be a pure enterprise architect role. It is a practical, hands-on engineering solutions role that works closely with technology leaders, business stakeholders, engineering teams, vendors, security, infrastructure, audit, and project delivery teams to help shape the future of insurance with BrokerLink by leveraging cutting-edge technology like Databricks and Microsoft Azure.
What you'll do here:
- Ensure business needs are translated into practical, production-ready solution designs.
- Define and document end-to-end solution architecture across applications, integrations, workflows, data flows, APIs, security considerations, and operational support needs.
- Create and maintain a technology architecture strategy and ensures technology solutions are aligned to this strategy.
- Create and maintain solution architecture documentation, architecture diagrams, design decisions, roadmaps, patterns, and implementation guidance.
- Reduce rework, operational risk, performance issues, and integration gaps by identifying design risks earlier in the lifecycle.
- Support BrokerLink technology initiatives by ensuring vendor and internal solutions align to business priorities, enterprise standards, and production-readiness expectations.
- Work directly with software engineering, AI & automation, infrastructure, security, and vendor teams to ensure solutions are buildable, supportable, and aligned to approved designs.
- Ensure solution designs explicitly address performance, scalability, reliability, resilience, security, observability, logging, alerting, and supportability.
- Provide detailed analysis and opinions to assist with product and technology selection when new vendor solutions, platforms, or technical capabilities are required.
- Provide detailed analysis to support risk, cost, feasibility, and value assessments for internal build options, vendor platforms, and hybrid approaches.
- Assess current-state solutions for aging technology, misalignment with business requirements, reliability gaps, security concerns, or operational risk.
- Contribute to and apply architecture governance, compliance standards, reusable patterns, and security requirements across solution designs.
- Participate in architecture review, design approval, and technology decision processes to ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture direction.
- Lead build-versus-buy, risk, cost, feasibility, and value analysis for internal builds, vendor platforms, and hybrid solution options.
- Assess current-state applications, integrations, and platforms to identify technical deficiencies, lifecycle risks, security gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Lead research and assessment of emerging technologies, architecture approaches, and vendor capabilities for potential use across BrokerLink.
- Partner with project, infrastructure, security, and engineering teams to align solution architecture with delivery needs, infrastructure constraints, and operational readiness requirements.
- Contribute to the evolution of BrokerLink’s technology architecture by aligning solution decisions to long-term business strategy, security requirements, application lifecycle considerations, and emerging technology capabilities.
Contribute to and help evolve architecture principles, reusable patterns, and decision criteria that support consistent technology decision-making.
What you bring to the table:
- Must have 5+ years of hand-on experience in .NET software engineering, systems engineering, solution architecture, application architecture, and platform engineering.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft’s cloud platform, Databricks, programming languages, protocols, frameworks, integration patterns, and continuous delivery practices.
- Demonstrated delivery of scalable, complex, integrated systems using APIs, workflows, data flows, service-oriented architecture, event-driven architecture, distributed architecture, or other application architecture patterns.
- Hands-on experience with implementing security best practices, secure coding, opinionated CI/CD pipelines, and robust governance and compliance processes.
- Very strong understanding and hands-on experimentation with the latest software engineering, cloud, and AI technologies, with a demonstrated ability to stay current in a constantly evolving technology environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage business stakeholders, software engineering, infrastructure, telecom, security, audit, PMO, and leadership audiences.
