As we continue to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Financial Manager to join our team and take ownership of the company’s day-to-day financial operations while supporting management with the information and analysis needed to make sound business decisions.
The Opportunity
This is a hands-on role for a detail-oriented finance professional who is comfortable managing the full cycle of financial operations in a fast-paced, trade and manufacturing environment.
The Financial Manager will work closely with the President and senior leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and effective budgeting and forecasting. The ideal candidate brings both technical accounting expertise and practical business sense.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Managing all day-to-day financial operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Preparing accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Preparing and submitting monthly consolidated financial statements to Scotia Bank before the 30th of each month.
- Reviewing and analyzing the Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement to ensure accuracy and identify areas for improvement.
- Developing, coordinating, and monitoring the annual operating budget and providing variance analysis with explanations.
- Maintaining rolling financial forecasts and updating projections in response to changing business conditions.
- Monitoring cash flow and working capital to support operational needs and financial stability.
- Managing banking relationships and coordinating day-to-day banking requirements.
- Monitoring receivables, payables, and inventory trends and preparing custom allocation reports twice monthly.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable tax, payroll, and financial reporting obligations including GST/HST, corporate tax, and payroll remittances.
- Coordinating with external accountants, auditors, and government agencies for year-end reporting, audits, and tax filings.
- Implementing and maintaining effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Preparing financial reports and key performance indicators for management review.
- Supporting management in evaluating capital expenditures and other business initiatives through financial analysis.
- Supervising and mentoring accounting staff and assisting with process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation or active progress toward CPA designation is a strong asset.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, budgeting, financial planning, and financial analysis.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and analyzing financial statements including Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting processes, variance analysis, and financial forecasting.
- Experience with cash flow management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Solid understanding of Canadian tax compliance including GST/HST, corporate income tax, and payroll remittances.
- Experience coordinating with external accountants, auditors, and financial institutions.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to management.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
