Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all supplies are ready for patient procedures
- Assist dentists during examinations and treatments, including procedures such as fillings, extractions, and orthodontic adjustments
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring accuracy and patient safety
- Manage patient records using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Epic, documenting procedures accurately
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote optimal health outcomes
- Support front desk operations by greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and managing patient check-in/check-out processes as a dental receptionist
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and safety standards in compliance with healthcare regulations
Skills
- Proficiency with dental software platforms for scheduling, billing, and record management
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to dentistry and orthodontics to facilitate clear communication
- Strong understanding of dental assisting techniques combined with excellent interpersonal skills for patient care
- Basic knowledge of dental reception duties including appointment scheduling and insurance processing
- Inventory management and equipment maintenance knowledge
- Proper sterilization skill to meet regulatory requirements
