Position Summary: The Production Supervisor will lead their Technician team (4-10 members) to create superior turf for residential and commercial customers. In the first season with Weed Man, a supervisor trainee will focus on gaining the required skills and competencies unique to Lawn Care to fulfill their duties as a supervisor. Training is the top priority.

March 29th - December 15 th , 2021 Season Contract

40-60 Hour work weeks (Overtime is 1.5x hourly rate for hours worked past the 88 th in a bi-weekly pay period)

2022 (and beyond) seasonal opportunities available for a successful first season

A Production Supervisor contract typically begins in late January and ends in mid December

Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the Technician Team

Maintain a full complement of Lawn Care Technicians through recruiting, training, and retaining staff

Perform weekly team meetings with technicians to discuss current lawn conditions, service recommendations, changes to products, role playing, etc.

Perform bi-weekly 1-on-1 performance review meetings with technicians

Create daily routes for the technician team using Weed Man’s proprietary software

Computer literacy required; software specific training is provided

Responsible for employee scheduling, approving time-off, and following disciplinary protocols

Provide Excellent Customer Service

Follow Weed Man’s Raving Fans philosophy

Maintain technician team’s focus on excellent customer service and quality

Resolve difficult customer concerns with optimal outcomes for both the customer and Weed Man

Conduct service calls, lawn analyses and quotes to potential customers

Sales experience is not required but highly beneficial

Analyze and provide agronomic recommendations to improve the quality of customers’ lawns

Perform and Train Weed Man’s Services

Perform and train all Weed Man services (fertilization, weed control, insect control, seeding, aerating, etc.)

Complete invoice and customer interaction information into our electronic record keeping system (using an android tablet)

Calibrate, operate, and maintain (perform basic repairs) equipment such as spreaders, aerators, spray units, etc.

Driving is part of the job

Will be driving a company truck (almost) daily to customers’ locations across Huron-Perth, Grey-Bruce, and Orangeville territories

Occasional, planned, overnight visits to the Niagara Region’s Weed Man Depot

Travel and hotel expenses covered; food expenses aided

Must have a valid G-class driver license and a clean driving abstract

Comfortable driving pickup trucks without the ability to see out the rear-view window

Responsible for personal transportation to and from the workplace each day

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Meet regularly with the management team for goal setting/tracking, training, and mentorship

Maintain all processes and standards of the production depot (E.g., cleanliness, processes for loading materials, tracking inventory, etc.)

Responsible for overseeing efficient daily mixing and loading of products and equipment by technicians

Responsible for maintaining the truck fleet

Routine circle checks for safety, up-to-date licenses, and certificates

Routine maintenance (pickup and drop-off of trucks to mechanic shops, etc.)

Abide by and enforce the company uniform

Must be comfortable wearing hard-toed shoes, rubber boots, pants and lightweight-long sleeve shirts throughout the summer

Maintain the cleanliness of the assigned truck and equipment

Maintain a professional personal appearance and demeanor

Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required to meet the goals of the department

Qualifications:
Team leadership and a laser focus on Team’s Goals

Minimum of 3 years of management experience

Valid driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract and minimum 5 years driving experience

Previous experience in lawn care an asset but not required

Able to lift and carry 25kg bags for 10 meters throughout the work week

Love of outdoor work in all weather conditions

Reliable transportation to and from the production depot each day

Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Computer literacy (experience with the Microsoft office suite is a plus)

Excellent time management, organizational and multitasking skills
