As a key member of a highly integrated communications and marketing team, works closely with the experienced team of marketers, communicators, content creators, and digital, web, creative and data analysts to develop and implement insightful, evidence-driven content, marketing and communications plans for University clients. The plans must address client objectives and be aligned with the University’s strategic priorities. Provides sound advice on strategic communications to clients.
Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in a communication-focused field, such as marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or a related discipline, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of four (4) years’ professional experience in developing, implementing and evaluating communications and marketing strategies and plans
Thorough knowledge of the marketing and communications environment, and of the needs of university clients and the culture of post-secondary institutions
Professional experience in a strategic communications or marketing role
Experience in developing a range of communications products for a variety of digital platforms, speaking notes, reports etc.
Experience in interpreting digital data, such as web analytics and SEO
Proven credibility and competence, combined with a track record of influencing and gaining the confidence of clients
Ability to understand and interpret industry metrics/analytics and how to apply them to planning and product development with the goal of meeting client objectives
Proven abilities in communications planning and execution, and in content management, digital media and issues management
Proven ability to think proactively and provide advice and services to a client in a clear and concise manner
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both official languages
Ability to work well in both an individual and in a team setting
Proven ability to build partnerships and productive working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
Sound judgment, initiative, creativity, flexibility, tact and diplomacy, as well as experience in dealing with challenging situations and sensitive issues that may affect a brand
Ability to meet the demands of multiple clients simultaneously, balancing speed with quality and accuracy
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends; some travel may be required
