Tri-global Solutions Group Inc. is seeking eighteen (18) QA Automation Developers to join our talented Service Delivery team at Digital Design and Delivery (a division of Government of Alberta) to support various projects across the Ministries.
WORK MODEL: The successful candidate(s) will primarily work remotely; however, may be required to attend meetings or work sessions in Edmonton, AB on reasonable notice (onsite attendance unlikely for out-of-province contractors). Work must be performed from within Canada, due to network and data security policies. Applicants must be authorized to work in Canada to apply (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident). Standard Hours of work are 08:15 – 16:30 Alberta time, Monday through Friday excluding observed holidays.

PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Government of Alberta (GoA) has embarked on transforming the work of government to deliver simpler, more efficient, and better services for the citizens of Alberta, thereby ensuring that the needs of Albertans are effectively met in the digital age. The Province has a strategic role within government to drive efficiencies, innovation and modernization. The Digital Design and Delivery Division (DDD) is the Province’s new centre for digital delivery. It was established to maximize capability and confidence in modern digital practice by ensuring service quality and value through standards and controls. This includes utilizing human-centred design approaches together with agile methodology and modern data practices. DDD works in partnership with GoA ministries to deliver programs that better serve Albertans.
Tri-global is seeking up to eighteen (18) QA Automation Developers to work with DDD on service innovation, program review and digital transformation projects across the GoA. The QA Automation Developer(s) will work as part of cross-functional program review or product delivery teams. These teams, led by GoA product owners and DDD work collaboratively, and collectively participate in a full range of activities including field research, backlog definition and refinement, and sprint planning and execution. Digital transformation projects review the current state of services, identify future opportunities, and then deliver new services that are efficient, effective and affordable.
QA Automation Developer(s) will be responsible for overseeing the quality in the delivery of digital services and ensuring that a team’s focus is on quality. A QA Automation Developer is typically responsible for creating test plans, test cases, and scenarios, identifying required test types, assets, and data environments and tools, and the creating automated test suites.
DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
The QA Automation Developer(s) will be required on a full-time basis, working across two (2) to three (3) projects. Time, location, and frequency of work will vary depending on the needs of the particular project.
Services and project deliverables should evolve as the work progresses, in response to emerging user and business needs, as well as design and technical opportunities. However, the following must be delivered (iteratively) over the course of the project:
- Take the lead in ensuring the delivery of quality digital services:
o Create test plans to support frequent delivery of features with consistent and satisfactory quality;
o Create test cases and scenarios;
o Design and implement system tests;
o Design and implement load and performance tests; and
o Design and implement security tests.
- Manage automation that allows for rapid and frequent delivery:
o Implement automated test suites; and
o Coordinate contributions to automated test suites.
- Support and encourage the adoption of quality practices on a team such as code linting, test coverage, and Behavior/Test Driven Development (BDD/TDD).
- Support any initiatives with regard to the use of re-usable testing components/suites, the creation of test databases or the use of AI during testing.
- Support a team in defining metrics for service quality:
o Contribute to and coordinate automated metrics collection; and
o Contribute to and coordinate automated generation of reports and Artifacts on quality.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS
**Must have a MINIMUM of 8 YEARS for all of the following**
– Experience with coding and developing new testing automation scripts with CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
– Experience creating and modifying automation test scripts.
– Experience preparing or supporting the preparation of automation test plans and automation test cases.
– Experience using automation testing frameworks.
– Experience with GitHub.
– Experience with load testing, performance testing, security testing and/or end-to-end testing.
DESIRABLE / SCORED QUALIFICATIONS
**Must have a MINIMUM of 5 YEARS for all of the following**
– Experience with API testing.
– Experience with Cucumber and/or Gherkin.
– Experience with Cypress.
– Experience with establishing and gathering automation testing metrics.
– Experience with implementing QA automation standards within an organization.
– Experience with Jira Xray.
– Experience with User Acceptance Testing processes on large, complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
PROJECT EXAMPLES (MUST PROVIDE 2 PROJECT/ASSIGNMENT EXAMPLES)
Two (2) project/assignment examples must be provided, which exemplify/demonstrate your expertise in the selected service area. These examples must clearly demonstrate your expertise in the QA Automation role.
Note: Project examples that reflect more recent experience will be evaluated more favorably, particularly those that demonstrate alignment with current public sector digital delivery practices.
Each example is composed of the following (5) five Questions:
1. QA Automation Project Delivery Experience
The proposed resource must demonstrate hands on experience delivering QA automation solutions as part of software delivery initiatives. Experience must include the design, implementation, execution, and maintenance of automated tests that support reliable, repeatable, and scalable testing across the software development lifecycle.
The proposed resource must provide a minimum of two (2) project examples that clearly demonstrate their role and contributions to QA automation activities.
2. Enterprise or Public Facing Application Experience
The proposed resource must have experience supporting enterprise scale or public facing applications in public sector, private sector, or mixed delivery environments.
Experience must include:
- Working as part of a cross functional delivery team (e.g., developers, DevOps, product owners)
- Supporting applications with multiple stakeholders and significant user volumes
- Operating within structured delivery frameworks (e.g., Agile, DevOps, product based delivery)
3. QA Automation Tools, Frameworks, and Languages
The proposed resource must demonstrate hands on experience with QA automation tools, frameworks, and technologies used to implement automated testing solutions.
This must include experience in:
- Automated functional, regression, and/or API testing
- Test automation frameworks (custom or industry standard)
- Source control systems and build/pipeline integration
- Scripting or programming languages commonly used for test automation
The proposed resource must clearly identify the specific tools, frameworks, and languages used, along with years of experience for each.
4. Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) Support
The proposed resource must have experience supporting continuous delivery through QA automation.
This includes:
- Integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Enabling early defect detection and fast feedback cycles
- Supporting frequent, incremental releases of custom built solutions
Experience must demonstrate active participation in CI/CD enabled quality practices rather than isolated or manual test execution.
5. Technical QA Automation and DevOps Integration
To assess technical depth, the proposed resource must address the following:
a. Provide years of experience for relevant QA automation tools, frameworks, and technologies.
b. Demonstrate experience testing applications deployed in containerized, hybrid cloud, or platform based environments, including platforms such as Red Hat OpenShift.
c. Demonstrate experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, including the use of tools such as GitHub Actions for build, deployment, and test validation.
d. Demonstrate experience validating environments and deployments provisioned through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (e.g., Terraform), including environment readiness and consistency.
e. Demonstrate direct involvement in building, maintaining, or contributing to automated test stages within CI/CD pipelines, including test execution, reporting, and troubleshooting failed automated tests.
