Overview
We are currently seeking a skilled and safety-focused Underground Miner 1 to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out development activities in a hard rock mining environment, ensuring all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Requirements & Skills
· Qualification and Skills in hard rock underground mining are required.
· Demonstrated ability to drill and blast safely and effectively.
· Competency in operating underground mining equipment.
· Ability to read and interpret technical plans, drill patterns, and safety documentation.
· Strong understanding of underground mining safety practices and procedures.
· Physically capable of performing demanding underground work.
· Strong communication and teamwork skills.
· Knowledge of provincial safety regulations and best practices
Duties and Responsibilities
· Promote and uphold a strong safety culture by performing all duties in a manner that minimizes risk and maintains a safe working environment.
· Execute all aspects of underground mine development, including:
o Marking, drilling, blasting, mucking, and ground support installation
· Safely operate the jumbo and all underground mining equipment as trained and authorized.
· Perform loading and blasting activities in accordance with established procedures and certifications.
· Read, interpret, and follow drill patterns, plans, and work instructions.
· Construct and install ventilation systems, backfill barricades, and steel structures as required.
· Conduct routine equipment servicing, including:
o Refueling
o Checking coolant, engine, and hydraulic oils
o Lubrication of components
· Completing daily inspection and maintenance reports
· Perform workplace inspections and ensure areas are made safe prior to work commencement.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
· Complete daily equipment logbooks and provide clear verbal and written reports.
· Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations
· The roster for this role would incorporate 7 days on 7 days off, with rotating weeks of days/nights
