Summary
Fratello Coffee Roasters is seeking a dedicated and passionate Coffee Roaster to join our team. The Coffee Roaster is responsible for roasting our high-quality coffee, maintaining bean inventory, performing equipment maintenance, and collaborating with the Lead Coffee Roaster/Green Coffee Buyer and Quality Assurance Manager to ensure our coffee is roasted to perfection. Areas of Responsibility
Coffee Roasting:
- Complete daily coffee roasting requirements as outlined in the schedule on: Coffee Roasting on Probat G120 and Probat G90, along with sample roasting on Probat L12 and Roest Sample Roaster.
- Assist in creating and implementing the weekly roasting schedule
- Maintain accurate inventory and retrieve the correct green beans according to the recipe
- Roast coffee following the specified recipe and roasting profile in Cropster, ensuring beans meet the profile and color specifications
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance Manager to adjust roast specifications when necessary
- Accurately record and track bean weights, shrinkage, and build assembly numbers in Cropster and QuickBooks
- Participate in Quality Assurance activities for continuous improvement
Organization and Cleanliness:
- Adhere to inventory management procedures and ensure accurate storage of orders
- Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of roasting equipment, reporting any issues to the Lead Roaster/Green Coffee Buyer
- Observe machine operation for malfunctions, following safety procedures and reporting hazards/incidents
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment in compliance with sanitation standards and schedules
- Assist the Packaging Team as needed
Experience and Qualifications:
- Must love coffee!
- 2+ years of experience as a machine operator, preferably in a food environment
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong time management and multitasking abilities
- Team player with a problem-solving mindset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and QuickBooks or similar accounting tools
- Minimum High School education
- Forklift certification and ability to lift heavy items
