Position Summary
We Manage HR is recruiting on behalf of a precision CNC manufacturing company in Southeast Calgary for a Quality Control & Deburring Technician.
This is a hands-on position combining quality inspection, deburring, finishing, packaging, and shipping/receiving support. The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail and take pride in ensuring precision-machined components are properly finished, inspected, identified, protected, documented, and prepared for delivery.
This role is well suited to someone who understands that quality extends beyond machining and that proper finishing, inspection, traceability, handling, and packaging are essential to delivering conforming products to customers.
Key ResponsibilitiesDeburring & Finishing
- Perform deburring, cleaning, and finishing of precision-machined metal and plastic components.
- Remove burrs, sharp edges, machining marks, and minor surface imperfections using hand and power tools.
- Inspect parts for burrs, scratches, surface damage, contamination, and other visible defects.
- Ensure deburring and finishing activities do not affect critical dimensions, tolerances, or surface requirements.
- Prepare components for secondary processes such as anodizing, plating, coating, painting, or assembly.
Quality Control & Inspection
- Perform visual and basic dimensional inspections of machined components.
- Use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment as trained.
- Read and follow engineering drawings, work instructions, job travellers, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Verify part numbers, revisions, quantities, dimensions, and workmanship requirements.
- Record inspection results and support completion of required quality documentation.
- Identify, segregate, and report non-conforming products or potential quality concerns.
- Support Quality personnel with incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities.
- Maintain product identification and traceability throughout handling and processing.
Packaging & Shipping/Receiving
- Prepare finished components for shipment according to customer, quality, packaging, and handling requirements.
- Ensure components are properly protected against damage, corrosion, contamination, and deterioration.
- Package and label products accurately according to work orders, purchase orders, and customer requirements.
- Verify quantities, part numbers, revisions, and accompanying documentation before shipment.
- Assist with receiving incoming materials, components, tooling, and supplies.
- Verify incoming shipments against packing slips and purchase orders.
- Identify and report shortages, visible damage, incorrect materials, or documentation discrepancies.
- Assist with the movement, storage, and organization of materials throughout the facility.
- Operate a forklift when trained and authorized.
Quality, Safety & Teamwork
- Follow company Quality Management System procedures, safety requirements, and customer specifications.
- Support compliance with applicable ISO 9001/AS9100 and aerospace quality requirements.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Work closely with Quality Control, CNC Machining, Production, and Shipping/Receiving personnel to ensure jobs are completed accurately and on time.
- Participate in continuous-improvement and 5S activities.
- Perform other related production and quality-support duties as required.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a CNC machine shop, precision manufacturing, quality control, deburring, or similar manufacturing environment preferred.
- Previous experience deburring precision-machined components is an asset.
- Experience performing visual or dimensional inspection is preferred.
- Ability to read and follow engineering drawings, work instructions, and job travellers.
- Basic knowledge of precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
- Understanding of machining tolerances and GD&T is an asset.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems is an asset.
- Shipping and receiving experience is an asset.
- Forklift experience or certification is an asset.
- Good computer, documentation, and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to safely lift and handle materials and finished components.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment.
Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
