Tax Technology Enablement group (TTEG) is looking for an experienced M365 Application Support Specialist who will help to transform tax services by overseeing the enablement of Microsoft 365 (M365) technology solutions that digitize & automate existing processes within EY.
We are looking for passionate, collaborative and technically proficient people who will work with local and global technology teams during distinct phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). You will be part of a small but growing team that is pioneering Digital Transformation across EY Canada’s Tax Practice to help our professionals drive operational efficiencies through automation, enablement and go to market with competitive offerings. You will engage very closely with various business teams in the Tax Service Line to scope out their business problems and subsequently produce software solutions for their existing business processes.
You will regularly get to wear your entrepreneurial hat during the product discovery phase where you get to reimagine how critical business lines need to perform their work for reducing costs and increasing client satisfaction. You will experience the dynamism of a small team while having the resources and backing of large global organization while you embark on this transformational journey.
Your key responsibilities
Proactively seek out business experts to understand the current processes with the intent to simplify and automate it using internal and external software tools.
Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of EY's enterprise-based applications such as, but not limited to: M365 (incl. SharePoint, Teams, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Teams and app plugins for the various systems.
Become a Microsoft Influencer and help users work more efficiently with collaborative tools like Microsoft Teams and M365 (SharePoint, Teams, Power Apps, Power BI etc.).
Act as point of escalation for application related issues and/or requests.
Deliver end-to-end problem resolution (identify, document and resolve) within established service level agreements and identify root causes for recurrence prevention; take ownership of issues by carrying out problem analysis to implementing temporary or permanent fixes.
Deep dive into the core business functions within the Tax & Legal Practice and able to recommend technology enablers to augment and streamline existing processes
Collaborate with TTEG colleagues to come with the right technical solution based on business requirements, budget, backlog, resourcing and other trade-offs.
Conduct training sessions to prepare users on system functionality and changes according to the M365 and EY roadmap.
Verify technical documentation for architectural feasibility and recommend changes as needed.
Communicate concisely to senior executives & project sponsors during status calls.
Manage a variety of viewpoints to build consensus and create positive outcomes for all parties.
Simplify complex messages, highlighting and summarising key points.
Identify opportunities to retire legacy technologies and migrate to latest solutions including distributed web based, IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service) and SaaS (Software as a Service) solutions.
Reach out to counterparts across the globe to stay current on the latest innovations in AI (Artificial Intelligence), Chatbots, RPA, Blockchain and then think of ways to apply it within the Tax Service Line.
Interact with Global IT to find out capabilities of newly built internal tools & platforms and evaluate technical implications for the Canadian Tax Practice.
Guide and mentor junior members of the team on both technical and non-technical aspects.
Experiment with unproven technologies and not deterred by failing fast and early.
Skills and attributes for success
Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, other M365 applications including SharePoint Online, Power BI and Microsoft Teams
T-shaped technical skillset with depth in one tech stack and breadth in tools/ frameworks typically used in enterprise software projects
Experience in overseeing Software Application Development for web apps across global teams in multiple technology stacks
Early career hands-on programming and web design is strongly preferred
Experience in recommending the right technology stack and solution for the business problem
Experience with manipulating data via ETL (Extract Transform Load) tools including cloud-based services from PDF, Excel, CSV, Databases and SharePoint Lists
Experience with hosting web application in Cloud Services like Azure or M365 SharePoint Online
Awareness of different software design patterns is an asset
Experience working with senior decision makers and strong communication & interpersonal skills
Experience or interest in Robotics Process Automation (RPA) and awareness of applicability of Automation Anywhere, UiPath, Power Automate, or BluePrism for different use cases
Willingness to get trained on internal and external tools
Some experience evangelizing capabilities of newly built tools across the organization is desirable
Awareness of Data Science and ML (Machine Learning) capabilities & limitations is a nice-to-have
Strong tolerance for ambiguity and “can do” attitude with an open mind-set to work on any technology area
Self-starter and can manage own activities to get the desired result
Relentless learner who follows emerging technology trends and is not afraid of being a fast mover and an early adopter
To qualify for the role, you must have
4+ years in IT or Software
3+ years' experience supporting M365 technologies
At least 2 years leading software projects and providing technical support
2-3 years in utilizing Cloud Computing solutions such as Azure or M365 for hosting applications
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Engineering, Computer Science, IT or relevant field
Experience with the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI, PowerQuery) covering key development and support dimensions
Experience with development, deployment and supporting of enterprise level portals and collaboration solutions on SharePoint platforms
Full cycle software development experience in building front-end user interfaces and web applications
Experience with information architecture, document management and records management
Knowledge of database theory, database design, and database management
Strong knowledge of multiple high-level languages (C#, Python, Java), environments (.NET, SharePoint).
Knowledge with different cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), exposure to application development using Microsoft Teams, Power Automate and Power Apps
