DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Summary:
The Student Leadership Development Department is responsible for providing extracurricular and weekend programming for the students enrolled at Columbia International College. The Special Programs Coordinator develops, recruits, and implements special programs; such as, The Duke of Edinburgh International Award Program, Elite Pathway Program, and Model United Nations Team.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
· Coordinate and facilitate the Elite Pathway Program (EPP)
· Develop and facilitate engaging and diverse programing for Leadership Training, Career Networking, and Personal Development for EPP students in Grade 11 and 12 that align with the school’s vision of the program.
· Maintaining innovative EPP programing that reflects evolving student interests
· Promoting the EPP program to current and prospective students.
· Coordinate and facilitate all exclusive day and overnight trips for EPP.
· Liaise with all internal and external EPP partners to ensure the program aligns with the school’s vision.
· Coordinate and facilitate the Duke of Edinburgh International Award Program (DOE)
· Planning and facilitating weekly meetings with all DOE participants
· Manage student enrollment and all program tracking including but not limited to: weekly logs, student progress, activity recommendations
· Liaise with the DOE office and program assessors for each section of the program (Community Service, Physical Activity, Skills, and Adventurous Journey)
· Develop and facilitate DOE Gold, Silver, and Bronze overnight Adventurous Journey camping trips
· Maintain and manage equipment needs for all DOE excursions
· Coordinate and facilitate the Model United Nations Team
· Promoting the program to current and prospective students.
· Design and modify a MUN curriculum and appropriate training for students
· Promote plan and facilitate the CIC MUN competition
· Plan and facilitate trips to local and international MUN competitions trips
· Coordinate the Student Leadership Development application process for all leadership teams (Student Council, Community Service Prefects, Athletic Council) that emphasizes personal growth, responsibility, and the development of essential leadership skills through an educational and reflective process
· Perform additional duties assigned
Specific Job Skills:
· Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
· Experience in an administrative role.
· Must be organized and have exceptional time management skills.
· Experience with logistics and organizing of transportation.
· People management skills.
· Must be a self-starter, decisive, assertive, and great team player.
· Ability to maintain a calm manner and patience when providing exceptional customer service to staff and students.
· Strong problem solving skills and mediation skills.
· Ability to be an effective member of interdepartmental team in a dynamic office.
Qualifications:
· A background in facilitating a wide range of programs
· Post-secondary education.
· Experience with Microsoft suite of programs, including Excel (Intermediate experience required including database development, mail merges, etc.)
· Experience with basic design software (Canva, Prezi, or Publisher)
Hours of Work
- Availability to work flexible hours including days, evenings and weekends.
