In each function, the AZ Truck Driver ensures that equipment is in good working order and prepared for current and next day tasks. Responsibilities
- Operate dump truck with trailer to transport supplies and equipment to various worksites in the GTA and surrounding areas.
- Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe work practices and compliance with applicable Acts and regulations
- Perform trip inspections on equipment operated and loaded, ensuring safety, fueling and roadworthiness.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
- Complete morning safety checks; Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damages to the vehicles.
- Communicate effectively with foremen and co-workers both verbally and in written form
- Assist in loading and unloading of trucks, and debris is cleaned up.
- Ensure that material is properly protected from the outdoor elements
- While on worksite, participate in general labourer duties; maintain site cleanliness, sweep, dig and move material.
- Other duties as requested by site Foreman.
REQUIREMENTS
- Construction experience considered an asset
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as an AZ Driver
- Comfortability with driving in tight pinch point areas (GTA and construction yard)
- Must have a valid Class A Drivers license and provide a clean CVOR / drivers abstract
- Air brake endorsement (Z)
- Defensive Driving Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance
- Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities
- Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques
- High level of personal integrity and Strong work ethic.
