Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Coating Inspector to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for all aspects of inspection and quality control at both Academy’s facility and our sub-contractor's facilities. This position will be filled once a suitable candidate is found.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand and apply owner and client specifications.
- Inspect and verify all elements of sub-contractor’s coating operations.
- Conduct product and paint system verification.
- Evaluate defects (e.g., WFT’s, DFT’s, blast profile, salt test) and determine acceptance criteria.
- Inspect surfaces for protection from abrasive blasting.
- Oversee trailer load out and tie-down processes.
- Review client specifications and ensure compliance.
- Generate inspection and test plans.
- Collaborate with clients and sub-contractors.
- Travel between different facilities as needed.
- Work independently.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.
- NACE Level I certification is required; Level II preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in a fabrication shop is required.
- Experience in a fast-paced environment with changing needs.
- Industry-specific trade training is an asset.
- Proficient in MS Office applications.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
- Working knowledge of Bluebeam is considered an asset.
- CSTS-2020 certification is required.
- WHMIS certification is required.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office.
Working Conditions:
The role requires working in both a shop and office environment with moderate noise levels. Candidates should be prepared for potential exposure to inclement weather, and tasks may involve walking stairs, carrying objects, and driving.
Physical Requirements:
The position demands close visual acuity for tasks such as data analysis, extensive reading, and prolonged computer use. The incumbent must be able to stand and sit for extended periods while performing visual inspections.
