Our client is a well-established manufacturer and supplier of customized ingredients, seasonings, and functional ingredient solutions serving the food industry across Canada. With a long-standing reputation for quality, innovation, and food safety excellence, the company partners with customers to develop tailored solutions that meet evolving market needs.
They are seeking an entrepreneurial and relationship-driven Business Development Manager to lead sales growth initiatives, expand market presence, and develop strategic partnerships within the food manufacturing sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within the food manufacturing and food processing industries
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers across Canada
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue and growth objectives
- Manage the full sales cycle, from prospecting and lead generation to proposal development, negotiation, and closing
- Collaborate with internal teams, including product development, operations, and quality, to deliver customized ingredient solutions
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and growth opportunities
- Prepare and deliver presentations, proposals, and product recommendations to customers
- Negotiate contracts and commercial agreements while ensuring mutually beneficial partnerships
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, opportunities, and forecasts within the company's CRM system
- Attend customer meetings, industry events, and trade shows to strengthen market presence and generate new business opportunities
- Provide exceptional customer service and ensure high levels of client satisfaction and retention
- Monitor sales performance and provide regular reporting on pipeline activity and business development initiatives
Qualifications
- Proven success in business development, sales, and account management within a B2B environment
- Prior experience in the food ingredients, food manufacturing, food processing, or related industry is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of food product development and ingredient applications is considered an asset
- Strong market research, strategic planning, and competitive analysis capabilities
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Experience using CRM systems and sales management tools
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Strong business acumen with a results-oriented approach and a track record of achieving sales targets
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Marketing, Business, or a related field
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required
