Responsibilities
- Assist with planting, watering, pruning, and transplanting a variety of nursery plants using appropriate hand tools and techniques
- Support irrigation systems by checking for leaks, adjusting settings, and ensuring proper water distribution across the nursery beds
- Perform routine maintenance on gardening equipment, including mechanical tools and small machinery, to ensure optimal operation
- Handle heavy lifting tasks such as moving soil bags, plant containers, and other materials safely and efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas by sweeping, raking, and disposing of debris to promote a healthy growing environment
- Support general gardening activities including soil preparation, mulching, fertilizing, and pest control measures
- Follow safety protocols diligently during all tasks to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of horticulture practices and gardening techniques
- Experience with irrigation systems or willingness to learn their operation and maintenance
- Mechanical knowledge or aptitude for handling gardening tools and equipment
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively as required by the role
- Strong attention to detail with good organizational skills in managing multiple tasks
- Basic math skills for measuring soil amendments or adjusting irrigation settings
- A proactive attitude with enthusiasm for working outdoors in various weather conditions
