Job Title: Heavy Duty Cleaner - Spanish a plus

Location: Markham, Ontario
Hours: 4 hours per day (20 hours per week)
Pay Rate: $21.00 per hour
Reports To: Field Supervisor / Site Manager
GBC Facility Services is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Heavy Duty Cleaner to join our team in Markham. This role focuses on deep cleaning and the more physically demanding aspects of commercial facility maintenance. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, can operate independently, and consistently delivers a high standard of cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform deep cleaning of assigned commercial areas including floors, washrooms, kitchens, common areas, and high-traffic zones.
- Operate heavy-duty cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers, auto-scrubbers, pressure washers, and industrial vacuums.
- Strip, wax, buff, and polish hard-surface floors; shampoo and extract carpets as required.
- Move, lift, and reposition furniture, equipment, and supplies to access cleaning areas.
- Empty and sanitize waste and recycling containers; remove garbage to designated areas.
- Clean and disinfect washrooms, restock supplies, and report low inventory.
- Handle, dilute, and apply cleaning chemicals safely in accordance with WHMIS and product instructions.
- Identify and report maintenance issues, damage, or safety hazards to the supervisor.
- Follow site-specific cleaning checklists and quality standards consistently.
- Maintain cleaning equipment in good working order and store supplies properly at the end of each shift.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous commercial, industrial, or heavy-duty cleaning experience preferred.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, bending, kneeling, and repetitive motion for the full shift.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and operate powered cleaning equipment safely.
- WHMIS certification an asset (training can be provided).
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high cleanliness standards.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Reliable transportation to the Markham work site.
Working Conditions
- Part-time schedule of 4 hours per day; specific shift times to be confirmed with the supervisor and may include early morning or evening hours.
- Work performed primarily indoors at a commercial facility; some tasks may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals and the use of personal protective equipment.
- Physically active role requiring sustained movement throughout the shift.
Pay: From $21.00 per hour
