Voice Instructor — Cadenza Music & Art Academy
Cadenza Music & Art Academy is a growing music and performing arts academy in North Vancouver, BC, offering private music lessons, group programs, workshops, and performance opportunities for students of all ages.
We are currently looking for a passionate, experienced, and reliable Voice Instructor to join our teaching team.
Position: Voice Instructor
Location: North Vancouver, BC
Employment Type: Independent Teaching Contract
Compensation: $40 per teaching hour
Schedule: Flexible, with opportunities primarily during after-school, evening, and weekend hours
About the Role
We are looking for a vocalist and educator who enjoys working with students and can create a positive, encouraging, and professional learning environment.
The ideal instructor will be comfortable teaching students from beginner through advanced levels, depending on their area of expertise, and will be able to tailor lessons to each student's age, goals, musical interests, and experience.
Students may be interested in:
- Vocal technique and healthy singing
- Pop and contemporary music
- Musical theatre
- Classical voice
- Performance preparation
- Audition preparation
- Contemporary vocal styles
- Music theory and musicianship
Applicants do not need to teach every style listed above. We are interested in learning about your particular strengths and areas of expertise.
Responsibilities
- Provide engaging, structured private voice lessons.
- Develop individualized lesson plans based on each student's goals.
- Teach healthy vocal technique, musicality, expression, and performance skills.
- Track student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Prepare students for recitals, performances, auditions, examinations, or competitions when applicable.
- Communicate professionally with students and parents.
- Participate in Cadenza recitals, workshops, masterclasses, and other performance opportunities when available.
- Maintain a reliable and consistent teaching schedule.
Qualifications & Experience
We are looking for instructors who have:
- Professional training and/or significant experience in vocal performance.
- Previous private voice teaching experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A positive, patient, and encouraging teaching approach.
- Ability to work with children, teenagers, and/or adults.
- Strong reliability and commitment to a consistent teaching schedule.
- Performance experience is an asset.
- Experience with RCM Voice, auditions, competitions, musical theatre, or performance preparation is an asset.
