RESPONSIBILITIES :
The truck driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods within Canada and the United States. The driver operates a tractor-trailer with a B-Train configuration, ensures the compliance of transportation operations, and upholds road safety standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Operate a tractor-trailer with a B-Train configuration to transport goods on local, provincial, interprovincial, and international routes;
- Plan and complete transportation routes in accordance with established schedules;
- Inspect the vehicle before, during, and after trips to ensure proper operation and compliance with safety standards;
- Perform basic mechanical checks and report any defects or anomalies;
- Secure, fasten, tarp, and untarp loads in accordance with transportation requirements;
- Supervise loading and unloading operations to ensure the integrity of the goods being transported;
- Complete transportation documents, inspection reports, hours-of-service logs, and required customs documentation;
- Complete border crossings and comply with Canadian and U.S. customs requirements;
- Use communication systems, on-board computers, and transportation management technology tools;
- Maintain regular communication with the dispatcher, clients, and other stakeholders;
- Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies regarding road safety, transportation, and occupational health and safety;
- Provide professional and courteous service to clients during deliveries and pickups.
REQUIREMENTS :
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience driving heavy trucks;
- Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks)
- Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
- Driver's License (Class 1 or A)
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English or French.
