Welder / Fitter / Industrial Mechanic- Structural Steel
Our client is looking for a multi-skilled Welder to support their operations across fabrication, field installations, and industrial mechanical maintenance. The successful candidate will work both in a controlled shop setting and on-site at industrial or construction locations, ensuring the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of structural steel, metal components, and industrial machinery.
The role may require working day or afternoon shifts, occasional out-of-town travel, and extended periods away from home, depending on project demands.

Responsibilities
Shop Welding & Fitting
- Fabricate metal components, assemblies, and custom parts using MIG, TIG, and stick welding processes.
- Interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and welding symbols.
- Fit, tack, and weld structural and miscellaneous metal components with precision and adherence to tolerances.
- Operate fabrication equipment, including cutting torches, plasma cutters, ironworkers, drill presses, and grinders.
Structural Steel & Miscellaneous Metals Installation (Field Work)
- Install structural steel beams, columns, joists, stairs, railings, platforms, and miscellaneous metal components on construction sites.
- Perform rigging, hoisting, and material handling using cranes, lifts, and rigging hardware.
- Align, bolt, weld, and secure structural components according to engineered drawings and site specifications.
- Conduct field measurements, adjustments, and modifications as required.
Industrial Mechanical Millwrighting
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial machinery, mechanical systems, and production equipment.
- Perform precision alignment of motors, pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, and rotating equipment using dial indicators or laser alignment tools.
- Diagnose mechanical failures and perform corrective repairs, part replacements, and system adjustments.

Qualifications
- Certification as a Welder (e.g., CWB) or equivalent experience.
- Experience with MIG/TIG/SMAW welding and metal fabrication techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and mechanical schematics.
- Skilled in rigging, hoisting, and safe material handling.
- Solid understanding of structural steel installation practices, including bolting, welding, and alignment.
- Experience with industrial equipment installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Competence with precision measurement tools (tape measures, squares, micrometers, dial indicators, laser alignment).
- Able to lift heavy materials, work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to job sites.
- Working at Heights, WHMIS, and other safety certifications (or ability to obtain).

Schedule:
- Day shifts from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
- Afternoon shifts from 2:30 pm to 1:00 am
- Out of town travel may be required and occasionally for extended periods of time
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $27.00-$35.00 per hour
