We currently have a job opportunity for a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse to work in our cataract and retina surgery suite.
Current schedules include primarily 8 hour days. Schedules are subject to change.
Summary of Duties:
- Responsible for both scrub and circulating duties in cataract/retina surgeries
- Responsible for providing patient care which meets clinical and professional standards during the recovery phase
- Ability to assess patients and identify any problems and provide remedial actions.
- Able to work with the team to manage emergency situations
- Competent in accurately completing a patient Physical Assessment
- Proven ability to support comprehensive patient education throughout the perioperative continuum of care.
- Ability to effectively prioritize patient and family needs in conjunction with the inter-professional care team
- Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for staff and clients
Qualifications/Skills:
- Graduate of a recognized program for Registered Nurses or Registered Practical Nurse and in good standing with the College
- Valid CPR certification
- Minimum 2 years recent experience in the operating room and/or successful completion of the OR course
- Experience working in cataract/retina surgery
- Demonstrates commitment to patient focused care
- Demonstrates ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Excellent punctuality and reliability
- Proven attendance record
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the job

Experience:
- Working in OR: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- BLS Certification (preferred)
- RN/RPN licence (preferred)
