Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Flatbed Truck Driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting freight across various routes, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining the condition of the vehicle and cargo. This role requires a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and professionalism to meet our company's high standards for service.
Responsibilities
- Operate flatbed trucks to transport freight to designated locations efficiently and safely in Canada and USA
- Secure loads properly using straps, chains, and other equipment to prevent shifting during transit
- Perform routine inspections of the vehicle before and after trips, including checking brakes, tires, lights, and load security
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance in compliance with DOT regulations
- Assist with loading and unloading freight when necessary, utilizing forklift or heavy equipment as required
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules and any issues that arise during transit
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local transportation laws and safety regulations
- Conduct basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting minor mechanical issues to ensure vehicle operability
Experience
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Prior experience operating flatbed trucks preferred
- Knowledge of freight handling and securing techniques
- Experience with forklift operation or heavy equipment operation is a plus
- Familiarity with automotive repair or basic mechanical skills is beneficial
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently in various conditions
