Sharpfle Waffle is a Korean café in ByWard Market serving specialty coffee, matcha, tea, croffles, desserts, and brunch items.
We are looking for an energetic, reliable, and experienced Part-Time Barista / Café All-Rounder to join our team.
The main focus of this role will be preparing coffee and other café beverages while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient beverage station. Because we operate as a small team, you will also occasionally support other areas of the café, including customer service, running food and drinks, clearing tables, dishes, and general front-of-house operations.
We are looking for someone who enjoys coffee, works well in a fast-paced environment, notices what needs to be done, and is comfortable helping wherever the team needs support.
Responsibilities
- Prepare espresso-based beverages including Americanos, lattes, cappuccinos, and flat whites
- Prepare matcha, hojicha, tea, and other specialty drinks
- Maintain consistency in beverage quality, recipes, and presentation
- Steam milk properly and work efficiently with an espresso machine
- Keep the espresso bar and beverage station clean, stocked, and organized
- Take customer orders and provide friendly, attentive service
- Handle transactions accurately using our POS system
- Communicate and coordinate with the kitchen and front-of-house team during busy periods
- Run food and drinks to customers when needed
- Assist with clearing tables, dishes, cleaning, restocking, and other café duties
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and proper food-handling procedures
- Manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining quality during peak periods
What We Are Looking For
- Previous barista or café experience strongly preferred
- Experience preparing espresso-based drinks and steaming milk
- Understanding of basic espresso and coffee preparation
- Strong attention to detail and consistency
- Friendly and comfortable interacting with customers
- Reliable and punctual
- Good energy and a positive attitude
- Strong focus and ability to stay organized during busy periods
- Good observational skills and situational awareness
- Able to identify what needs attention without waiting for constant direction
- Adaptable and comfortable switching between tasks
- Able to learn new recipes and apply feedback quickly
- Comfortable working as part of a small, hands-on team
Previous café experience is important for this position, but we also strongly value reliability, initiative, adaptability, learning ability, and attention to detail.
