Carecor is seeking dedicated and compassionate Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) to join our exceptional healthcare team in the Pediatric Unit. Under the direction of the facility Charge Nurse or Registered Nurse, the RPN provides safe, high-quality patient care in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) standards, Carecor policies and procedures, and the guidelines of the assigned healthcare facility. The RPN supports the physical, emotional, developmental, and social well-being of pediatric patients while collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver patient-centered care. This role offers the opportunity to work full 8 to 12-hour shifts within a single facility per assignment, ensuring continuity of care and meaningful patient interactions in a supportive clinical environment.
Summary of Position:
The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) - Pediatrics provides compassionate, family-centered nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents in a hospital or healthcare setting. Working under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN) and the interdisciplinary healthcare team, the RPN is responsible for assessing patients within their scope of practice, implementing care plans, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient conditions, and supporting the physical, emotional, and developmental needs of pediatric patients. The RPN collaborates with families and caregivers to promote positive health outcomes, patient safety, and continuity of care while adhering to the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) standards, organizational policies, and evidence-based nursing practices.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients with acute or chronic health conditions.
- Monitor, assess, and document patient status, reporting changes to the healthcare team.
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapeutic interventions within scope of practice.
- Support children and families through education, communication, and emotional support.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Promote a safe, child-friendly environment that supports patient and family well-being.
- Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and quality care standards.
Job Qualifications

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent from an accredited program
- Active registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- ACLS & BLS Certificate Required
- Proof of current immunizations for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella (MMRV); proof of negative TB skin test within 1 year
- Current N95 Mask Fit Test Certificate
- Pediatric nursing experience preferred.
- Strong communication, assessment, critical-thinking, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented healthcare environment.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check

- Ability to work independently, or as part of a team
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Shift scheduling requirements:
- Must be available for “urgent or last minute” shifts, scheduled within 2 hours of shift start time
- Must be able to work the flexible shift times, depending on the facility, 8 or 12 hours in length
- Must be able to “float” from unit to unit within a hospital, depending on facility need
- Must be available to work all shifts which includes days, evenings and nights including weekdays, weekends and statutory holidays
- Must be in compliance with the Carecor Healthcare shift acceptance/cancellation policy (provided for review upon hiring)
- Required to work 2 weekends per month
- Must be reliable (once availability is given) to be placed at an agreed upon facility/unit
