Summary
The successful candidate will work under supervision of the senior members of the Toronto Pension Consulting Team, in providing actuarial and consulting services for clients.

Responsibilities

Preparation of actuarial valuations and reports for pension plan funding and accounting
Review data reconciliation and reconciliation of plan assets prepared by other members of team
Review of pension benefit calculations and other pension administration
Assist client leads with day to day client contact and problem resolution
Take direction from, and support, senior team members
Work with current and prospective clients in order to grow business
Work on internal development projects and participate on internal committees
Mentor junior staff
Assist with special projects and tasks, as required

Succeeding as an Associate Pension Consultant will require the following core qualifications and skills

University degree in actuarial science or mathematics
Working towards FCIA designation and has obtained ASA designation
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with pension plans
Strong ambition to pursue a career as a consulting actuary
In-depth, detailed knowledge of actuarial valuation process
Very good knowledge of pension plan legislation and actuarial standards of practice
Combination of excellent analytical and mathematical skills with strong work ethic
Exceptional client focus with strong professional acumen
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Dedicated team player, who demonstrates initiative and independence
An excellent understanding of personal computers and software, particularly MS Word, Excel, and programming
