Job Overview
The Associate Director, Aquatics & Business Development provides strategic and operational leadership for aquatic programs, social enterprises, facility rentals, and business development initiatives at BGC South East. This position is responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and financially sustainable operation of aquatic services while maximizing the use of organizational assets to support the Club's mission, growth, and long-term sustainability.
The Associate Director oversees aquatic operations, social enterprise activities, and facility rental services. The role provides leadership in program development, staff supervision and training, risk management, customer service, operational planning, and revenue generation. The successful candidate will foster a culture of safety, accountability, innovation, and service excellence while ensuring programs and services meet the needs of children, youth, families, and community members.
Your responsibilities will include;
- Organize and supervise the operations of the aquatics department
- Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, and scheduling of aquatics employees and volunteers to ensure proper and adequate coverage of pool operations
- Supervise and support the Aquatics Coordinator
- Ensure pool safety and proper maintenance procedures are followed
- Assist in the development, coordination, promotion, and evaluation of aquatics programs and activities;
- Provide exceptional customer service and meet members' needs and expectations;
- Provide a safe, clean, and organized aquatics area for members following all policies and procedures
- Develop a social enterprise business model that includes all BGC assets and equipment across all BGC locations, aligned to the Club’s strategic plan
- Implement the social enterprise business model, ensuring proper staffing and supervisory support of operations
- Manage and grow social enterprise opportunities, ensuring facility spaces are running to effective capacity
- Develop and grow partner and client base to enhance rentals and sales through social enterprise initiatives
- Canvass, develop, and nurture a portfolio of contacts for the social enterprise ventures
- Continually re-assess the developed social enterprise model
- Work closely with the Fundraising & Marketing department for promotion of social enterprise operations
- All other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- University Degree or College Diploma in Business Management
- Experience: Practical background in program coordination, non-profits, or social enterprise/ business development
- 2-3 years experience with aquatics (lifeguard and/or supervisory experience)
- Facility Operations: Strong working knowledge of pool mechanics, filtration systems, and water quality testing (chlorine, pH balance)
- Safety Regulations: Deep familiarity with provincial health and safety regulations for public swimming pools
- Administrative Skills: Scheduling, Report Writing, Financial Tracking
- Criminal Reference Check (including Vulnerable Sector Check)
- CPR/first aid Standard Level C
- NLS Certification (current)
- Instructor Certifications
