Overview
We are seeking a skilled Loader Operator to join our quarrying team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating various types of loaders. Prior experience with stone or quarrying is a plus.
- Operating a loader to clear the yard moving material and skids with direction.
- Loading pre-staged loads onto a truck for transport
- Performing complete operator maintenance for machine and daily inspections
- Loading customers with gravel
- Move pallets of material
- Requires Common Core for Loader Certification and requires skill to operate larger loaders.
- Loading saws- with selected material and taking the lead with operator to ensure the floor is loaded correctly communicating with Materials Coordinator and Supervisor for any questions or issues. Several steps are used but judgement is required to load the saw.
- Moving Belt Saws- ensuring the load is secure, working with the operator and supervisor to move the equipment. A few steps are used but judgement is required to safely move the equipment through the Quarry.
- Ensuring safety of anyone in the area is essential for this position.
- Assisting with pump maintenance- adding fluids and turning pumps on
- Actively assist in loading and unloading large blocks using larger loaders (980C, 844J, 980K)
- Perform preventative maintenance checks and follow operating procedures on machines and equipment.
- Perform circle checks daily
- Owen Sound: Loading saws- with selected material and taking the lead with operator to ensure the floor is loaded correctly communicating with Materials Coordinator and Supervisor for any questions or issues. A number of steps are used but judgement is required to load the saw.
- Wiarton: Could involve quarrying slabs depending on experience.

- Keep inventory of stock materials
Working conditions:
- Work weeks are Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm (Summer 7am-3:30 typically), with additional hours as needed in Owen Sound. Hours are Monday to Thursday 7am-5:30pm and Friday 7am-3:30 pm with additional hours as needed in Wiarton
- Working in hot and cold conditions.
- Working in wet and dusty conditions.
- Physically demanding and ability to work in a loud environment.
- Able to sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to follow key safety protocols is essential to maintaining a safe work environment (i.e. balanced load)
Skills Required:
- Read and write (English) with attention to quality
- Active Loader Operators license
- Physically able: ex: lift to 75lbs.
- Able to work with fellow employees with great communication skills
- Basic mathematic skills, and able to read a tape measure and good at troubleshooting.
- Able to understand paperwork such as shop tickets and drawings with little to no help.
- Willing to take advice and ask questions if unsure of any task.
- Very driven to keep working and meet production targets
- Punctuality- must be on time for shifts and breaks
- Reliable- proper attendance is essential for this mainly seasonal position

Pay: $23.40-$25.40 per hour
