DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the development and management of the operations budget and operations plans for district.

Turnover Plan vs Actual
Ensure stores execute the key business objectives.

Merchandise Initiatives

Contributes ideas and takes initiative in order to drive the business.
Follows all home office Merchandising Guidelines/planograms within district
Uses systems to effectively identify problems and opportunities
Reviews P&Ls and other financial reports on a regular basis and uses information to improve sales and profitability.
Completes Action Plan with constant review throughout the year of all stores with poor financial results from last year
Ensures all monthly promotional/marketing initiatives are being executed at store level (eg merchandise action plan program, check out program, contests)
Manages cigarette and convenience margin/sales/inventory to obtain the best possible results
Accountability for People

Primarily responsible for managing activities of Store Managers to ensure achievement of goals for the District.
Oversees and evaluates work of direct reports and makes formal recommendations around recruitment and termination of those within District.
Ensures action plans are made for all non –performers with proper action plan to improve with proper documentation
Ensures non– performers employment relationship is ended if action plan to improve is not successful
Ensures Market Leader receives proper training /direction to develop as a future District Manager
Does an appropriate job in manpower planning and networking to ensure that we have a strong management team in place (succession planning)
Conducts regular store visits.

On store visits establishes clear goals and objectives prior to visiting store
Leaves a written action plan for the manager on each store visit, with due dates
Uses weekly category sales report during store visit with manager to improve store performance
Reviews store profit and loss during store visits with manager; all the questions/concerns of store manager are answered or forwarded to home office for response.
Identifies and maximizes specific stores with micro marketing opportunities
Loss Prevention

Audits completed on time in stores (2 per month)
Average of Store audits for year exceeds 95%
Corrections made on all previous store audit issues
Action plans completed and reviewed, updated throughout the year on all stores with a high shrinkage from the prior year
Damages signed off in stores on a monthly basis, monitor stores to ensure damage procedures are followed.
Ensure store compliance on receiving, store to store transfers, return to vendor procedures reviewed on store visits
Loss Prevention book procedures are being followed in each store

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience:
5-7 years retail multi unit management experience
College degree preferably in retail management or business
Advanced level of store operations knowledge, procedures and practices
Superior relationship building, coaching, negotiation, and leadership skills
Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Strong business acumen, planning & analytical skills
Dynamic, customer oriented, highly motivated
Proficiency in computer skills
Ability to relocate an asset

Other Job Requirements:
Frequent travel is required throughout the district several times per month
Focus may be required as part of driving
Required to frequently maneuver stock/fixtures up to 22 lbs while visiting stores
Some bending and reaching while manoeuvring stock
