We are seeking an experienced Chief Mining Engineer to oversee engineering activities for the
continued development and safe execution of our Hammerdown Project near King’s Point,
Newfoundland and Labrador. This is a unique opportunity to lead the engineering team and play a
pivotal role in bringing the province’s next gold mine into production. Our Hammerdown Project is an
open pit gold mining operation, which will supply run of mine feed to our operating Pine Cove mill,
located approximately 100km from Hammerdown, near the town of Ming’s Bight on the Baie Verte
peninsula.
Your Role in the Expedition:
As Chief Mining Engineer, you’ll be part of a dynamic team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for mine engineering activities.
- Develop and maintain long-term mine plans and ensure alignment with operational goals.
- Oversee design and implementation of open pit layouts, drill and blast plans, and waste
management strategies.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices in safety and
environmental stewardship.
- Manage and mentor the engineering team, fostering collaboration with Geology and Mine
Operations.
- Monitor performance metrics and deliver monthly and quarterly reports to senior
management.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering processes.
- Other related duties as required.
What You Bring to the Field:
- B.Sc. in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in open pit mining, with at least 3 years in a leadership
role.
- P.Eng. designation (or eligibility for registration with PEGNL).
- Proven ability to develop safe, cost-effective, and innovative engineering solutions.
- Proficiency with mine planning software (Deswik, MS Office).
